Jennifer's character teaches us the value of a strong and independent woman, the value of family, and the importance of sticking by our loved ones no matter what.
Initially, Karan Johar was going to be the director of the film, which was originally titled Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. Due to scheduling issues, he ultimately gave his aide Nikkhil Advani the directing reins.
The film was the first Bollywood production to be totally shot in the United States; it was filmed in New York for 50 days.
