Shehzada is a 2023 Bollywood action movie that was co-produced by T-Series Films, Haarika & Hassine Creations, Geetha Arts, and Brat Films. It was directed by Rohit Dhawan. The film is a Hindi version of the 2020 Telugu film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
An unrefined young man from a middle-class family named Bantu discovers that he is the biological child of a wealthy businessman. Many scenarios occur once Bantu learns who his real parents are, allowing him to meet them and resolve his family's issues.
Star Cast: Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Ronit Roy, Sachin Khedekar, and Manisha Koirala.
Director and Writer: Rohit Dhawan.
Producer: Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Aman Gill, Allu Aravind, S. Radha Krishna, and Kartik Aaryan.
Runtime: 2 Hours 25 Minutes.
Budget: ₹85 Crore.
To ensure that his child may live a lavish lifestyle, Bachaa Badlu Valmiki (Paresh Rawal) swapped his child with that of his multi-millionaire employer Randeep Nanda (Ronit Roy). Raj (Ankur Rathee) is given Bantu's (Kartik Aaryan) fortune on a golden platter but one day the truth is out that causes all the adventure and chaos that comes next.
The story is still as lousy as it was in the original, but it was only rescued by the appeal of the fashionable Allu Arjun and the chart-topping soundtrack. The movie begins as an Instagram reel and continues to be one, peppered with music that will only briefly trend on social media. The screenplay by Rohit Dhawan keeps the same aesthetic as the original.
Moreover, Shehzada lacks the theme of the character worshipping himself throughout, but it still serves as a fulcrum for Allu's Bantu to be significantly more outstanding due to appeal. Even the battle scenes use a similar kind of acting technique. Unfortunately, Sudeep Chatterjee and Sanjay F. Gupta are there just to copy and paste the angles from the original.
Kartik Aaryan's speciality is his honesty, which he has demonstrated in his performances since the days of PKP and is evident in Bantu as well. He does his best to serve what is on the plate. But the problem is with the food he's serving from that plate. Kriti Sanon's physical allure is her only contribution to the tale as the script doesn't give her much else to do.
Paresh Rawal does a respectable job of convincing you to love and hate him at the same time while playing a kamina baap. Despite Ronit Roy's excellent performance, the weak storyline leaves his character lacking. Manisha Koirala is back on the big screen, but it was all she had to offer as the script didn't give her any other tasks.
Although Rohit Dhawan is known for making excellent films like Desi Boyz and Dishoom, this one didn't make the cut. Nothing of value has been added by Rohit to set this apart from the original.
Shehzada sticks to Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo's weakest elements; its story and screenplay while failing to optimise the film's strongest elements (music and Allu Arjun’s charm), resulting in a mediocre attempt to retell a dull tale.
