Life Story
Sukirti Kandpal is a popular name on Hindi television in India. Sukirti Kandpal's parents, B.D. Kandpal (a former president of the Uttarakhand Bar Association and a deputy advocate general of the Uttarakhand High Court) and Manju Kandpal gave birth to her in Nainital, Uttarakhand. Her older sister's name is Bhavna, while her younger brother's is Manjul. She graduated from Nainital's St. Mary's Convent High School.
As her father was a public prosecutor, the law was an early interest for Kandpal. She studied Economics at the Sophia College for Women in Mumbai and graduated with honours. During her early years in the industry, she dated Manavendra Singh Shekhawat, but they eventually broke up.
Career
Sukirti Kandpal embarked on her television journey in 2007 with the show Jersey No. 10, an Indian adaptation of the American series One Tree Hill. She was discovered by a creative director at a coffee shop and subsequently auditioned for the show. In the same year, she also appeared in various episodes of the Indian horror thriller series Ssshhhh...Phir Koi Hai.
Her breakthrough came in 2008 when she replaced Shilpa Anand as Dr Riddhima Gupta in the medical romantic comedy Dill Mill Gayye. She worked on the show for ten months before leaving in 2009. She also starred in the official music video for Kailash Kher's song Teri Yaad Mein from the album Chandan Mein.
From 2010 to 2015, Sukirti saw significant success in her career. She played a double role in the supernatural romance Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, which The Vampire Diaries and Twilight Saga inspired. The show garnered her fame and recognition. In reality, she also participated in shows like Meethi Choori No 1 and Nachle Ve with Saroj Khan.
In 2012, she returned to acting as NRI Jazz in Rab Se Sona Ishq and appeared in various roles in the series Hum Ne Li Hai...Shapath. She also co-hosted a special Gumrah: End of Innocence episode and starred in Kaisa Ye Ishq Hai...ajab sa risk hai.
In 2014, she participated in the reality show Bigg Boss 8 and later, in 2015, she played the role of journalist Debjani Thakur in &TV's Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls.
From 2016 onwards, Sukirti continued to work in various TV shows, including Darr Sabko Lagta Hai, Tashan-E-Ishq, and the second season of Kaala Teeka.
In November 2020, she made a successful comeback as the lead character, Aliya Shroff, in Story 9 Months Ki, which explored the concept of choice motherhood through In vitro fertilisation. The show received critical acclaim and was considered one of the most pathbreaking shows of 2021.
Apart from television, Sukirti also appeared in advertisements for various brands like PC Chandra Jewellers, Hyundai, Dove shampoo, Shahnaz Husain's Fair One Cream, and Margo Neem Face wash.
