In 2017, she had a role in the television series Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara, which was about a modern-day romance and included Sanjay Kapoor as her on-screen love interest. She co-directed the acclaimed short film Ambu in 2019, in which she also acted as both a male and a female. The movie was one of the 10 best from the 48-Hour Film Project that went to Filmapalooza 2019 in Orlando.
In 2021, Smiriti Kalra made her film debut with the comedy-drama on Disney+ Hotstar titled Cash. The movie also featured Amol Parashar and Gulshan Grover.
