The Sundarbans serve as the setting for the novel, which examines the themes of power, greed, and morality. The series tells the tale of a young man named Rishi, who unintentionally sees a gang of powerful individuals murdering two forest cops during a wedding. He tries to call the police to report the crime, but no one believes him because the offenders are well-connected and powerful. Dibyendu Bhattacharya portrays DSP Barun Ghosh, a good-hearted policeman and the father of one of the brides, in the meantime. He is in charge of looking into the killings, but he has a lot of challenges because the suspects are powerful and well-connected. More sinister truths come to light as the inquiry goes on, and it becomes obvious that the killings are only the beginning of the story. The show also explores the individuals' personal histories, interpersonal connections, and motives. The family drama and the police inquiry are linked, and the plot's surprising turns and turns keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
Season 1 of Undekhi was released on 10 July 2020 which received positive response and was set for a second season that aired on 4 March 2022. Just like season 1 season 2 was also a success and it created more of the same thrill among the viewers.
One of the strengths of Undekhi is its well-developed characters. Each character has their own motivations and backstories, which are gradually revealed throughout the series. The actors deliver strong performances, particularly Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who plays the role of DSP Barun Ghosh. His character is a righteous police officer who is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice, despite the obstacles he faces. The majority of critics' and viewers' reviews for Undekhi were favourable. On the day of the show's release, Rajkumar Rao expressed his appreciation for it on his twitter profile. According to Pramit Chatterjee of Mashable, the presentation is impressive and is based on real-life stories and people that we've encountered who have made an indelible impression on us. It's what fuels the idea that our country isn't really free. The British have indeed left. What about, though, our privilege, classism, racism, conflicts of interest, abuse of authority, etc.? Did they bring it along? No. It is still around.

DSP Barun Ghosh: Dibyendu Bhattacharya portrays DSP Barun Ghosh, a moral policeman in charge of looking into the killings that occur during the wedding. He is a man of principles, and despite the challenges he encounters, he is unflinching in his resolve to hold the offenders accountable. The series' moral compass is played by the strong and endearing DSP Ghosh.
Rishi: Harsh Chhaya portrays Rishi, a young man who unintentionally sees the murders. He is a fascinating character who battles his conscience and his concern over the criminals' possible revenge. One of the most interesting character arcs in the series is that of Rishi.
Ankur Rathee's character, Daman Atwal, who is the groom's brother and a leading suspect in the killings, is Daman. He is a wealthy, spoiled young guy who thinks he is entitled to everything because of his position and power. Daman's persona stands for the sinister side of luxury and authority.
Papaji: Played by Surya Sharma, Papaji is one of the main suspects in the killings and the son of a local Legislator. He has a turbulent personality and will resort to violence to achieve his goals. The persona of Papaji stands in for the perils of unbridled authority and the results of a dishonest political system.
Ayn Zoya's character, Saloni, is a journalist who is looking into the killings. She is a shrewd and resourceful person who doesn't mind telling it like it is. The role of a free and objective media in revealing the truth and holding people accountable is symbolised by Saloni's persona.

The Sundarbans, a mangrove forest in West Bengal, was the setting for the series' on-location filming. To film in the protected area, the production team needed to get specific permits from the forest department.
The show is based on real-life incidents. The incident in which two forest officials were allegedly assassinated by a gang of powerful people in 2016 during a wedding at a forest resort in Odisha served as the basis for the story.
Ashish R. Shukla, who is best known for helming the critically praised movie Prague, is the director of Undekhi.
The series has amazing images of the Sundarbans and the forest retreat, making it visually stunning. The photography is excellent, and the use of colour and lighting creates a spooky, frightening environment that heightens the plot's intensity. Seeing the riveting criminal drama Undekhi is highly recommended. It is a superb illustration of the calibre of Indian web series and is certain to keep its audience interested and entertained from beginning to end. In general, the ensemble of characters in Undekhi is well-rounded and gives the show depth and complexity. Each character adds to the larger themes of power, privilege, and morality by bringing their own viewpoint to the plot.
