Rekha Bhardwaj attended Hindu College in Delhi and later pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, School of Indian Classical Music and Dance.
Rekha Bhardwaj received her initial music training at home, mentored by her elder sister. Following her time at music school, she further enhanced her skills by receiving training in Gharana singing from the renowned Pandit Amarnath.
After a decade-long collaboration with Gulzar, Rekha Bhardwaj released her debut album Ishqa Ishqa in 2002. Interestingly, one of the album's songs, Raat Ki Jogan, was conceptualized as early as 1994.
