Her cinematic debut was in the film Baaghi opposite Salman Khan in 1990, which was the seventh highest-grossing film of that year in Hindi cinema.
Films like Gharana Mogudu (1992), King Uncle (1993), Suhaag (1994), Kadhalan (1994), Baashha (1995), and Lal Baadshah (1999) are notable for Nagma's performances. Although she began her acting career in Bollywood, she has appeared in many films in various Indian dialects. She has acted in films in the regional languages of Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Bhojpuri as well as in Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi, and Mandarin/Cantonese.
Nagma Arvind Morarji, born Nandita Arvind Morarji on December 25, 1974, is an Indian politician and former actress. Her zodiac sign is Capricorn.
At the prestigious Mount Mary Convent High School in Mumbai, Nagma Arvind Morarji began his formal education. She received a strong academic foundation from this school, which also helped to mold the person she is today. After completing her education with honors, Nagma decided to enroll in National College at Mumbai University because she was so eager to learn.
She started her journey toward earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree at National College. She gained a thorough understanding of many facets of commerce, including accounting, finance, business management, and economics, as a result of this educational endeavor. Nagma's commitment and diligence during her time at National College allowed her to earn a degree.
On December 25, 1974, Nagma, then known as Nandita Arvind Morarji, was born. Her father Arvind Morarji's ancestors originated in Jaisalmer and later migrated to Porbandar, Gujarat, and ultimately Mumbai. Gokuldas Morarji, her grandfather, was a well-known businessman in the shipping, textile, agricultural, and pharmaceutical sectors. Her mother Seema, formerly known as Shama Kazi, is a Muslim descended from the Kazi family of freedom fighters. She married Morarji in 1969 at the CCI Club in Mumbai but separated from him in 1974. After divorcing Morarji in August 1974, Nagma's mother married Chander Sadanah, a film producer, in March 1975, with whom she had three children: including two daughters, actresses Jyothika and Roshini
Until his passing on December 31, 2005, Nagma and her biological father had a close relationship. She said to a reporter in Mumbai, I am proud to come from a respectable family. My mother and my late father, Shri Arvind Morarji, were formally wed at a public event at the CCI Club in Mumbai. Her mother reportedly spent several years as Nagma's constant companion on the film sets and encouraged her to pursue a career as an actress.
In 2001, Sourav Ganguly had a committed relationship with Nagma, but they never revealed it to anyone. He was the captain of the Indian cricket team and a married man. Even rumors of the two getting married in secret in an Andhra Pradesh temple surfaced, but they denied it. The two broke up after being in a committed relationship, and the cause was completely unanticipated. People used to accuse Nagma of being a distraction in Sourav's life whenever India used to lose any game. A smaller interest had to be sacrificed for bigger interests, Nagma once remarked about her relationship. When a game is being played, people should understand that it is a sport. It's very weird that people started getting carried away. Whenever India played, people said that a person was not doing well because he was emotionally attached. This is so juvenile.
They decided to break up because of the constant teasing she received regarding the Indian cricket team's poor performance in games. Nagma soon began focusing on her southern film career, and it was here that she met the next man who would leave her.
She fell in love with South Indian actor Sharath Kumar after splitting up with Sourav Ganguly. When he first met Nagma and their contentious relationship began, actor and MP Sharath Kumar was already married. The two fell in love, but nothing good came out of their relationship. When Sharath's wife found out about his relationship with the actress, she left him and quickly requested a divorce. Nagma made the decision to sever ties with Sharath following the uproar. Soon after, Sharath began threatening Nagma with death, forcing her to call it quits on her South Indian film career.
Nagma relocated to Mumbai after bidding farewell to South Indian cinema and made the decision to give Bhojpuri films a try. She later appeared in numerous films alongside Ravi Kishan, a superstar in Bhojpuri. She fell for a heavily married Ravi Kishan again, but this time, his wife was okay with their extramarital relationship. Ravi openly discussed their relationship, even though Nagma never accepted it. Ravi disclosed his relationship with Nagma in one of his earlier interviews, saying,
My friends and family are aware of my relationship with Nagma. My wife has accepted Nagma as a beautiful part of my life. I don't lie to my wife about her. She's gracious enough to accept that there can be a special relationship between a man and a woman outside of marriage. I'm not the first nor the last married man to have an intimate relationship with another woman.
Getting candid about their intimate relationship, Ravi further added,
Nagma accepts that I wouldn't leave my wife and children. We're living in the moment. We don't even talk about the future. In fact, Nagma comes home and often cooks along with my wife. My wife has full faith in me. And I'd never let her down. In fact, she encourages me to sign films with Nagma. 'Your friendship shows in your work,' she says. My wife doesn't think of Nagma as a home-breaker.
The two actors eventually split up after turning the town red with their love. The gap that resulted from Ravi's participation in the first season of Bigg Boss and the subsequent separation made Ravi realize that he was deeply in love with his wife.
After dating Ravi Kishen for a long time, Nagma moved on in life and had a fling with another Bhojpuri actor, Manoj Tiwari who was Ravi’s biggest competition in the Bhojpuri films. She wanted to hit Ravi where it hurts the most thus had a fling with Manoj. The two actors always denied their link-up news and in one of the interviews, Nagma denied their relationship and said, Just because I'm working with him doesn't mean there is something going on between us. Please spare me! Both Ravi and Manoj are married men.
Talking about her failed relationships, Nagma once said, I've had my heartbreaks but I've coped with them. I'm not bitter about any of the men either.
Well, the actress has moved on in life and is currently single and concentrating on her political career. The actress is an ardent follower and believer of Christianity. It is also said that Julie 2 was made on Nagma and her controversial life.
The seventh-highest grossing movie in Hindi cinema in 1990 was Nagma's debut film Baghi: A Rebel for Love, which she costarred in with Salman Khan. She co-starred with Karisma Kapoor as one of the female leads in the 1994 film Suhaag, which also starred Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar. After these movies, she appeared in regional movies at her friend Divya Bharti's request to play the lead in Telugu and Tamil movies. She used her desire to travel throughout India and gain an understanding of various cultures, as well as her drive and passion to receive praise from all over India, to explain her shift. She was also more conscious of the quality of work in terms of meaty roles. Language was never a barrier, she said. I love adventure, culture and have great respect for the Indian tradition.
Her Telugu films include Major Chandrakanth with N. T. Rama Rao and Mohan Babu, Allari Alludu with Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Gharana Mogudu with Chiranjeevi. She played her most glamorous role and started to tempt the Tamil audience in her Tamil films Kadhalan with Prabhu Deva, Baashha with Rajinikanth, and Villadhi Villain with Sathyaraj. Her performance earned her a unanimous ovation for her glamour role time.
She concentrated on supporting parts in Hindi movies after returning to Mumbai, including Chal Mere Bhai from the 2000s, which saw her reunited with former co-stars Karisma Kapoor, Salman Khan, and Sanjay Dutt. She continued to work in films while residing in Mumbai, including Allari Ramudu and Citizen in Telugu and Tamil, as well as Chathurangam in Malayalam, where she played leading roles.
Nagma has appeared in Bhojpuri movies, including ones starring Ravi Kishan, a contestant on Big Boss. At the 2005 Bhojpuri Film Awards, she was recognized as the Best Actress for her work in Dulha Milal Dildar. She co-starred in the title role of the 2006 film Ganga with Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. She stated, I wanted to do films in different languages, when questioned about her decision to switch to Bhojpuri films. I have already made movies in ten different languages. Panditji Bataayina Biyaah Kab Hoii, my debut Bhojpuri movie, was a huge success. The offers kept coming after that, and they were just too good to pass up. She acknowledged that aiding in her political campaigning was a significant factor in her decision to concentrate on Bhojpuri films when speaking with The Hindu in Delhi in April 2007.
In 2006, she made her Punjabi film debut, starring alongside Raj Babbar in Ek Jind Ek Jaan.
Discussing her career in a Mid-Day interview in September 2006, Nagma said I have learned nine languages, so I want to do films in all languages. On the Hindi film front, I am in the process of signing a very big period thriller. I am getting to do a variety of roles with content, so I am satisfied. While noting her commitment to complete several Bhojpuri films she was involved with, in March 2007, she expressed her intention to next focus on returning to Hindi films after wrapping up her projects. In her 2007 Hindustan Times interview, in which she discusses her future plans for cinema and politics, Nagma responded to a question about her reputation for controversy by saying You need guts to deal with controversies. Of course, whether it’s for negative or positive reasons, I’ve always been in the news.
