Ramadan Mubarak! Ramadan, also known as Ramzan, is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is very important for Muslims all over the world. It's the month when the Quran was first given to Prophet Muhammad and is a month for fasting, praying, thinking, and being together. From sunrise to sunset, people who observe Ramadan don't eat or drink and instead put their energy into being spiritual, doing good things, and helping others. Each day, the fast which is called 'Roza', starts with a pre dawn meal called'sehri', and in the evening, the fast ends with a meal called 'Iftar', enjoyed with family and friends. Ramadan is a chance for personal growth and faith, as well as a time to be close to other people and show gratitude and love.
Why is Ramadan celebrated?
Ramadan is celebrated because it is believed to be the month when the Quran, which is the holy book for Muslims, was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad by Allah (God) to guide men and women. Muslims fast (Roza) from dawn to sunset, pray, and do good deeds to grow closer to Allah, seek forgiveness for past sins, and purify their hearts.
