Introduction

Gujarat Titans is a cricket franchise based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The Titans are members of the Indian Premier League (IPL).  Gujarat Titans, founded in 2021, play their home games at Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera. CVC Capital Partners owns the franchise. Hardik Pandya captains the team, which is coached by Ashish Nehra. The current IPL champions are the Gujarat Titans, who won their first title in the 2022 season.

History of Franchise

The Indian Premier League's Governing Council issued an invitation to tender for two new teams in August 2021. A total of 22 companies expressed interest, but with a high starting price for the new teams, only six serious bidders emerged. The Indian Cricket Board allowed a consortium of three companies or individuals to bid for each franchise. With a bid of 5,625 crore (US$700 million), CVC Capital Partners, a British private equity and investment advisory firm, won the rights to operate the Ahmedabad franchise.

CVC Capital Partners won the Ahmedabad franchise in the October 2021 auction held in Dubai. The franchise selected Hardik Pandya as their captain ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan were also chosen by the franchise.  On February 9, 2022, the Ahmedabad franchise revealed the name of its cricket team as the Gujarat Titans.

Although their auction methods and selections during their first-ever auction were deemed inadequate, and the team was written off, the Titans surprised everyone by winning their first game against fellow newcomers Lucknow SuperGiants. That was the Titans' first victory in their inaugural season, which saw them win 10 of their 14 group matches and qualify at the top of the table with 20 points. They then won the first qualifier against Rajasthan Royals, whom they would face again in the final after beating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the qualifier.

Gujarat won the final by limiting Rajasthan to 130 on a pitch where they were asked to bowl first and chasing it down with 11 balls to spare, with Shubman Gill hitting the winning six off the first ball of the 19th over. Hardik Pandya was named Man of the Match for his 3/17 bowling figures and 34 from 30 balls at a strike rate of 113.33. Pandya's captaincy, bowling, and batting have been praised by critics, with many agreeing that he and the management used their players well and worked as a team to win the tournament.

Gujarat became the second team in IPL history to win in their first season, the first being their final opponents, the Rajasthan Royals. Nonetheless, Gujarat became the first team in IPL history to win the title in their first game against teams that had been playing since 2008. This is Hardik's fifth IPL title, and his first as captain, having previously won all four with the Mumbai Indians.

Rashid Khan: Rashid Khan is an Afghan cricketer who is regarded as one of the best spin bowlers in the world. He was born on September 20, 1998, in Nangarhar, Afghanistan. Rashid made his international debut for Afghanistan in October 2015, and since then has been a key player for the team in all formats of the game.

Rashid is a right-arm leg-spinner who is known for his accurate and varied bowling. He has a fast-arm action and delivers the ball with good pace and spin, making it difficult for batsmen to read him. He is also an excellent fielder and has taken some stunning catches in his career.

Rashid has played in several T20 leagues around the world and has been a regular member of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2017. He has been instrumental in the team's success, helping them reach the finals in 2018 and playing a crucial role in their bowling attack.
