Neeraj Pandey is the creator and writer of the Indian criminal thriller streaming television series Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, produced under the Friday Storytellers banner by Shital Bhatia. Starring in it are Brijeshwar Singh, Avinash Tiwary, Abhimanyu Singh, Karan Tacker,  Aishwarya Sushmita, Jatin Sarna, Ravi Kishan, Ashutosh Rana, Nikita Dutta, Anup Soni, Shraddha Das, Neeraj Kashyap, and Bharat Jha. The series premiered on November 25, 2022, on Netflix. This series is set in the Sheikhpura, Nalanda, and Patna districts of India. The plot follows Sheikhpura IPS Amit Lodha as he prosecutes the Ashok Mahto gang while juggling his personal problems. The series is an adaptation of Amit Lodha's book called  Bihar Diaries: The True Story of How Bihar's Most Dangerous Criminal was Caught.

The show is based on Amit Lodha's book Bihar Diaries: The True Story of How Bihar's Most Dangerous Criminal was Caught. This series takes place in the districts of Sheikhpura, Nalanda, and Patna, all in the state of Bihar. Pintu Mahato, aka Chandan Mahato, is a member of the Ashok Mahto gang, which has been operating in Nalanda and Sheikhpura for a significant amount of time. The plot of the series focuses on Sheikhpura IPS officer Amit Lodha and how he manages to bring the Ashok Mahto gang to justice while also dealing with his own personal troubles.

The series made its debut on Netflix on November 25, 2022. There are seven episodes in total. The series is an adaptation of the book Bihar Diaries by Amit Lodha, which tells the true tale of how Bihar's most dangerous criminal was caught. The series was well-received by critics, and all of the performances were praised by both critics and viewers.

Reviews

IMDb rated the show an 8.2 out of 10, and fans have given it a 3.6 out of 5 rating on Gadgets360. It's the ensemble cast that stands out, says Sreeparna Sengupta of Entertainment Times. Kudos to the casting, as none of the characters seem out of place. The performances of Ravi Kishan, Anup Soni, Bharat Jha, Nikita Dutta, Abhimanyu Singh, and Shraddha Das are all excellent. As the Chawanprash and Meeta Devi, Jiten Sarna and Aishwarya Sushmita excel. As IPS officer Amit Lodha, Karan Tacker is electric, presenting the ideal combination of a cool-headed, action-oriented cop. It's fun to see Ashutosh Rana carefully do the balancing feat. But Avinash Tiwary, who plays Chandan Mahto, steals the show with a blistering performance and a commanding screen presence. It is wonderful how Mahto transforms himself at each stage to show Tiwary's development.

• Karan Tacker- Indian actor, model, and host Karan Tacker is well-known for his roles as Farooq Ali in Hotstar's Special OPS and Viren Singh Vadhera in Star Plus' Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai. He competed in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 on Colours TV in 2014.

• Avinash Tiwary- Indian actor Avinash Tiwary performs in Hindi films and series. He started his career in 2014 with the television show Yudh and received his first film part in the movie Tu Hai Mera Sunday. He received praise for his performance in the mysterious thriller Bulbul and in the romantic movie Laila Majnu. 

• Abhimanyu Singh- Indian actor Abhimanyu Singh primarily appears in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Gujarati films.

• Jatin Sarna- Indian actor Jatin Sarna performs in plays and Hindi films. He is most recognised for his work in 83, Sacred Games, Saat Uchakkey, Sonchiriya, and Meeruthiya Gangsters.

• Ravi Kishan- Actor, politician, film producer, and television personality Ravi Kishan is from India. He now represents Gorakhpur in the Lok Sabha as a member of parliament. His filmography is primarily composed of Bhojpuri, Hindi, and Telugu films. He has also made a few appearances in Tamil and Kannada movies.

• Ashutosh Rana- Ashutosh Rana is an Indian actor, producer, writer, and television personality. He has contributed to films in Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and Hindi in addition to Indian television programmes. He is known for playing villains. He has won numerous honors.

• Nikita Dutta- Indian actress Nikita Dutta primarily appears in Hindi-language films and television shows. She made her acting debut in the love drama Lekar Hum Deewana Dil. Dream Girl served as Dutta's first television appearance, and Ek Duje Ke Vaaste contributed to her fame.

• Anup Soni- Anup Soni is an Indian actor and anchor. Soni's acting career began with appearances in television series including Sea Hawks and Saaya. He acted in the 2003 movies Hathyar, Hum Pyar Tumhi Se Kar Baithe, and Kharaashein: Scars From Riots. He made an appearance in the 2004 film Sheen by Ashoke Pandit. However, he went back to work in CID: Special Bureau on television. He is still active in both film and television, and he also starred in the Sony serial Crime Patrol.

• Shraddha Das- Actress and model Shraddha Das is primarily seen in Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali, and Kannada-language films.

• Kali Prasad Mukherjee- Indian actor Kali Prasad Mukherjee is well known for appearing in supporting roles in Bollywood films and Indian soap operas.

• Vinay Pathak- Indian actor Vinay Pathak performs in both theatre and films. In addition to playing supporting roles in films like Jism, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and My Name is Khan, he has starred in a number of films, including Khosla Ka Ghosla, Bheja Fry, Island City, and Johnny Gaddaar.

Karan Tacker as SP Amit Lodha IPS

SP Amit Lodha is widely regarded as one of the most talented police officers Bihar has ever had. When it comes to his responsibilities, he is a very tough leader, yet he is also extremely good at what he does. Amit Kumar's life is not only complicated by the fact that he is tasked with apprehending the most dangerous criminal in Bihar, but also by the fact that he must contend with difficulties in his personal life. Amit Lodha is an extremely brave and courageous man who is unwilling to tolerate corruption and injustice.

Avinash Tiwary as Chandan Mahto

The character of Chandan Mahto is based on the real-life mobster Pintu Mahto, a prominent member of the infamous Ashok Mahto gang. Pintu Mahto was a member of the criminal gang that operated in Bihar under under the leadership of Ashok Mahto. Rajo Singh, a former veteran Congress member, was brutally murdered by Pinto, who was also implicated in other murders. Pintu was sought after in up to 30 murder and kidnapping cases, including the 2002 jailbreak in Nawada during which he and his accomplices escaped after killing two officers.

Controversy

Amit Lodha lost his position due to his alleged agreement with Netflix to produce a web series based on his book. However, there were also possible connections between the action and Bihar's new caste-based political alignment and his own previous, flawed power relationships, which frequently saw him pushed aside.

In conclusion, Khakee: The Bihar Chapter is an enlightening series that has fantastic visual effects. Despite the fact that the plot is easy to guess, every single actor in the series delivers a standout performance, making it an enjoyable show to watch despite the story's lack of novelty.
