The series is set in the small town of Uttarakhand. Anusha (Monica Chaudhary), a little girl, is abducted by Rudra Srivastava (Arunoday Singh), a senior inspector of the Uttarakhand Police, at her step-mother, Madhu Tyagi’s (Mahie Gill) request. The story starts off as a straightforward scheme to demand money in return for Anusha. Rudra receives a 3-year sentence after being wrongfully charged. Apharan is a thriller with a strong sense of mystery and suspense that is based on the 1970s. The mystery surrounding an abducted girl's murder drives the plot forward.
This time, the story follows Rudra as he juggles his professional and personal lives. The RAW sends the fearsome cop to Serbia to discover and apprehend wanted felon Bikram Bahadur Singh, also known as BBS, who is believed to be responsible for the deaths of nine Indian RAW operatives in one month.

Rudra Srivastava: Played by Arunoday Singh, Rudra is a police officer who is given the assignment to abduct BBS in a different country. Nevertheless, he quickly discovers that the police force had not been given a formal order to bring BBS to India, leaving Rudra in the middle of the criminal organisation swinging between life and death.
