Uday, a hockey player, has a troubled connection with his father, Brij. Vashma encourages Uday in his love of hockey. Brij marries Radha, a banjaran who is similarly young to Uday. When Randhir visits Sahanis, he discovers Amrit to be Ranjhan. Kiran, the cousin of Amrit, is the chosen bride for Randhir. Amrit and Randhir are both surprised because they've become fond of one another. Vashma assists Uday in joining the National Hockey Team. Vashma-Uday and Amrit-Randhir end up falling in love. Mogar, Kiran's mother, makes futile attempts to harm their bond. After some controversy, Amrit's father Ratan reluctantly reconciles Amrit and Randhir.
After, Vashma and Uday's affair is revealed, and Vashma is forced to marry Farroq. After Randhir prevents an accident involving a fire for Amrit and Mogar, Ratan accepts Randhir. Farooq is determined to find out who Vashma's boyfriend is, while Amrit discovers that Vashma is expecting Uday's child.
The wedding of Randhir and Amrit began on August 15, 1947. Farooq discovers that Uday is Vashma's boyfriend and confronts Vashma's brother Abrar about the Sahanis' Hindu faith and their murderous plans for them during the partition. Violence has begun after the announcement of partition. The violent troop is led by Abrar and Farooq. The marriage of Amrit and Randheer is put on hold, and Vashma's mother, Zahida, lies to Abrar and aids the Sahanis. Amrit is devastated when the riots resulted in the deaths of Ratan and Rajrani.
Before fleeing, Randhir's parents gift him a picture of his youth. Though they succeed in getting away, Amrit-Randhir, Uday-Vashma, and Brij-Radha are apprehended by Farooq, who inks his name on Amrit's hand. Vashma gives birth to a boy, Kabir. Abrar repents of his errors and assists Randhir and Uday in saving others. Vashma kills Farooq, and Amrit goes into a coma as a result. After learning that Brij is hiding at Iqbal's home, Farooq kills Brij.
Amrit heals after a few days, and the turmoil in Lahore has ended. They choose to relocate to a different city. Randhir splits off from the group and heads to the border with Vashma to look for Kabir. They locate him, but the cops apprehend them. While Amrit, Uday, and Radha are relocated to a different city, Randhir gets himself jailed in order to save Vashma and Kabir.
4 years later- In 1951, Amrit resides in Delhi with the now-reformed Mogar. She is taunted because of her tattoo and is waiting for Randhir and Vashma. While Uday is chosen for the Indian hockey team, Vashma, who works in a brothel, is searching high and low for her son Kabir. There is no acquaintance between Vashma and Uday. After being released from prison, Randhir is committed to finding Amrit. Veer Pratap Singh, the son of Prime Minister Nalini Pratap Singh, and Amrit have agreed to get married. Prem's passing is attributed to Veer. Amrit is abducted on the wedding day and encounters Vashma in a brothel. After Kabir is taken, Vashma tells Amrit what happened to Randhir and how she got up in a brothel.
Veer is Amrit's husband. Randhir, who soon encounters her and learns of her marriage, is devastated. Vashma and Uday are reunited, and he promises to track down Kabir while helping her become a teacher. Later, after discovering Prem Pratap Singh's childhood photograph, Randhir is revealed to be Nalini's long-lost son. Amrit learns about this and informs Veer and Randhir of their familial ties.
Veer chooses to give Amrit to Randhir after finally realizing that he and Amrit are in love. It turns out that Veer's alcoholism and Randhir's childhood accident were both brought on by Vijendra. Naman, another son of his, is attempting to murder Veer. Knowing that Randhir is Veer's biological brother, Vijendra and Naman attempt to assassinate him. Once more, Veer is killed in a bomb explosion while they both attempt to kill Randhir. Everyone laments his passing.
Nalini does not want to remain in the house where Veer was killed, so Randhir and his family return to their previous home. Vashma quickly realises that Manak is actually Kabir, who has been missing for the past four years. Uday is unaware of this since Vashma becomes harmed and enters a coma after learning this. Vijendra is swiftly exposed and imprisoned for Veer's passing. Kaveri is forgiven and Nalini moves on. While Vashma heals and gives Manak to Mohan and Bindu, Randhir and Amrit soon give birth to a girl. Amrit delivers a speech about female empowerment as the narrative comes to a close.
