The life of the warrior Manikarnika, who later became known as Rani Lakshmi Bai, is portrayed in the story. The events in the beginning of the story begin with Manikarnika stealing the flag of the British Empire and then hoisting the flag of their own nation. The British are infuriated by this, and they begin looking for the culprit who destroyed their flag. As part of her journey, Manu marries King Gangadhar Rao of Jhansi. This marriage places her in a position that grants her the authority to fight for Jhansi's and India's freedom. She ascends to the throne as Queen of Jhansi, one of the most prosperous kingdoms, despite the fact that it is still governed by the British. Despite the limitations that come with the customary duties that are expected of women, she battles those who betray Jhansi and the British government.
