The story of Devon Ke Dev Mahadev follows Shiva's journey from his ascetic life in the Himalayas to become the supreme being and, later, a devoted husband to Parvati. It begins with Lord Shiva marrying Sati, the daughter of Daksh, a mighty king. Sati was born with a divine spark and was deeply devoted to Lord Shiva from a young age. When Sati grew up, her father arranged her marriage to Shiva against her wishes. However, Shiva refused to marry her and instead left for the Himalayas. This left her heartbroken, and she decided to follow him.
She took the form of Parvati and began meditating in the Himalayas to win Shiva's love. Being impressed by her meditation, Shiva gives her the boon of his love and marries her. Shiva and Parvathi were blessed with three kids Ganesha, Karthikeya, and Ashok Sundari. The show ends with Prajapati Daksh using all his powers from his penance to bring back Sati from Kalchakra.
This erased Sati's memory to the point of her Vasant Utsav. The story was reset to the beginning, and the Shiv-Sati story began again with Sati stepping out to bring flowers for her Vasant Utsav. Besides exploring the love story of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the show also explores various subtopics of how good wins over evil. The show explores the love story of Sati and Shiva from the female protagonist's perspective. The show also tells the story of several other Hindu gods and goddesses and their connection to the divine couple. It follows the adventures of Shiva and Parvati and their children, Kartikeya and Ganesha. Devon Ke Dev Mahadev is a passionate story of devotion, love, adventure, and a journey through Hindu mythology.
Given the show's popularity, Devon ke Dev Mahadev was on air in the prime time slot of 8:00 pm to 09:00 pm. The show is currently available on Disney + Hotstar and continues to have a significant viewership.

Devon Ke Dev Mahadev was not without controversy during its run. The show was widely criticized for its portrayal of Hindu mythology, with some claiming that it was a distortion of the original scriptures. Additionally, some Hindu groups argued that the actors playing the role of Gods and Goddesses diminished the sacredness of the characters.
Devon Ke Dev Mahadev has been in the news recently due to actress Sonarika Bhadoria appearing in a bikini. The actress who plays the role of Goddess Parvati on the show sparked controversy after sharing pictures of her in a revealing bikini which angered a few fans.
Sonarika Bhadoria, who was playing the role of Parvati in the show in 2013, said she was replaced by the show makers when she had asked for a pay hike. She had apparently given the show producers a three-month notice, and they had agreed to revise her pay. However, one day she got a call from her staff and realized the shoot was in progress with a new lady now playing the role of Parvati.
Devon Ke Dev Mahadev was on the air for three years. It had over 36 seasons with 820 episodes of 20 minutes each. Over the years that the show was on the air, it had record-breaking TRPs. In 2012, it had an 8.2 TVR which was a new record.
After three successful years on the air, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev ended in 2014. The show's creators stated that the series had run its course and that the actors had grown too old to continue playing the same characters. While there were discussions on numerous online forums about this ending, most fans loved the opportunity for the show's possible revival in the future with a new take on the eternal love story.
