Byomkesh Bakshi is a Bengali Detective who, along with his close buddy Ajitkumar Banerji, investigates terrifying cases. Instead of calling himself a detective, Byomkesh refers to himself as a Satyanweshi, which literally translates to truth seeker. Because he is more concerned with the truth than with the law, as evidenced by the cases in which he lets the perpetrator die by manipulating the circumstances using their own methods as a redemption and delivery of justice for the victim in absence of evidence as in Balak Jasoos, Ret Ka Daldal, and a few other cases, he stands out among other legendary detectives such as Poirot or Holmes.
Each of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's novels was adapted by Basu Chatterjee into a television programme.
Set against the backdrop of an ever-changing metropolis, the series paints a vivid picture of pre-independence India, with its opulent mansions, smoky tea stalls, and the rich tapestry of its diverse inhabitants. From high society elites to humble labourers, each character holds a clue, and Byomkesh's keen observations allow him to connect the dots that others overlook.
But as Byomkesh delves deeper into the abyss of crime, he discovers that justice often comes at a high price. He must confront his own demons, face the limits of his intuition, and question the very essence of human nature. In this battle of wits and morality, every twist and turn leads Byomkesh closer to the truth, blurring the line between right and wrong.
Byomkesh Bakshi Having two seasons and 32 episodes aired on DD National during 1993 - 1997. Then it was re-run during Covid-19 in 2020 again for 21 days in the lockdown from Saturday 28 march 2020 at 11:00 AM.
Byomkesh Bakshi, An age of peace complete with its own statistics of crime, which Mr. Bakshi and his companion solved in a straightforward and creative method! The fact that Rajit Kapoor, who is actually Punjabi, manages to play a Bengali role while wearing a Dhoti Kurta with aplomb and is ably backed in this endeavour by Raina is one of the things audience enjoyed a lot.
In those days, people's interactions with one another were much more unhurried and casual, and there was far less of a sense of emotional distance than there is in the world now.
