Plot 

The story of 1965 movie Waqt is about the Khanna family, led by the father Lala Kedarnath Khanna, who is played by Balraj Sahni. The story takes place in a time when ideals and times are changing.

The city is hit by a terrible earthquake, which causes the Khanna family to be torn apart. Lala Kedarnath Khanna loses his wife and two kids in the chaos. He doesn't know if they are still alive or where they are.

Raja, the oldest boy, is raised to be a street-smart thief (Raaj Kumar plays him). Sunil Dutt plays the middle boy, Vijay, who grows up to be a successful businessman. Lala Kedarnath Khanna raises Ravi, the youngest boy, who is played by Shashi Kapoor.

After many years, fate pulls the Khanna brothers back together, but this time they don't know each other. Each of them has taken a different road through life, not knowing who they really are. As they keep running into each other, their separate lives start to mix, which leads to a series of dramatic and emotional events.

Ravi and Meena, played by Sadhana, fall in love. Meena is the daughter of a rich man who also happens to be Raja's boss. • The famous scene where Sadhana Shivdasani and Sunil Dutt change into swimsuits was at first cut because the censor board thought it was too sexual for Indian standards. But after a short time, the scene was put back in because people wanted it and the director worked hard to make it happen.
• Waqt was the highest-grossing Indian film of 1965.
• Waqt started a theme of loss and reunion stories in movies.
• Sunil Dutt was asked to be in the movie, but he said no because he knew Raaj Kumar would be better in the part. The film's creators demanded that Sunil play the part. Sunil had never been a playboy before. Dutt took the film as a favour to B.R. Chopra. As he said he would, Raaj Kumar got all the credit for how successful the movie was.
