123Telugu gave Veera Simha Reddy three out of five stars and stated, "Overall, Veera Simha Reddy is a decent action film with all the commercial elements to entertain Balakrishna fans." The Indian Express' Manoj Kumar R rated the film 3.25 out of 5 stars and wrote, "The troubling aspect of Veera Simha Reddy, and by extension the majority of Balakrishna's films, is that it argues it is acceptable to kill to solve a problem." Neeshita Nyayapati of The Times of India gave 2.5 ratings out of 5 and wrote, "Veera Simha Reddy is Balakrishna's film in every way. In contrast to his success as Veera, he fails as Jai. When the actor appears in black, you feel compelled to pay attention, but his cakey makeup and lacklustre performance as the other character detract from this. Janani K of India Today gave the film a 2.5 out of 5 rating and stated that it "reeks of clichéd ideas" while criticising the plot and praising Balakrishna's performance.

As a result, Nandamuri Balakrishna made his biggest opening weekend earnings ever. On its first day of distribution in the US, the movie brought in US$747,000. Nandamuri Balakrishna's name promptly comes to mind when the term "one-man show" is applied to Telugu cinema. The individual in his sixties is one of the most prominent entertainers the business has produced in recent years. Scenes from his films have been used as memes on social media over the years, but this has not diminished or affected his fanbase. This also pertains to his most recent novel, Veera Simha Reddy, which is the millionth version of the same story set in Rayalaseema.
