Introduction

PlayThank God is an Indra Kumar-directed 2022 Bollywood fantasy comedy-drama film. It is an authentic remake of the Danish film Sorte kugler from 2009. (What Goes Around). The movie follows Ayaan, a down-on-his-luck yet self-centered and ego-driven real estate agent who dies in a car accident and goes to Heaven. He meets Chitragupt there and must play the Game of Life, which affects whether he returns to Earth or Hell based on his actions. Thank God features top Bollywood actors such as Sidharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, Nora Fatehi, and Kiara Khanna.

The movie is directed by Indra Kumar. The screenplay for Thank God was written by Aakash Kaushik and Madhur Sharm. The cinematography was done by Aseem Bajaj. Dharmendra Sharma edited the film.

Plot

Real estate entrepreneur Ayaan Kapoor owes 16 crores in debt. Despite having a flourishing real estate firm, he became indebted as a result of his participation with black money and the following demonetisation. He attempted to sell his house to pay off his debt but was unable to find a buyer, so he moved in with his wife, Inspector Ruhi, and daughter Pihu.

Ayaan suffers a car accident one day and awakens in Heaven, where the gods Yamaduta and Chitragupta offer him the option to return to Earth by having him participate in a game known as the Game of Life. There are two boxes that should be filled with black balls to represent his flaws and sins and with white balls to indicate his strengths. Ayaan starts out in a very difficult position because he has many black balls. Due to the fact that Ruhi is an inspector and Ayaan has not succeeded in becoming one, Ayaan is revealed to be envious of his wife. He is placed in a scenario by Chitragupta where he is an inspector entrusted with freeing a hostage. The fact that he was unable to do so demonstrates to him that Ruhi was a superior inspector in all respects.

When Ayaan finally receives white balls for managing his rage later on, the game shifts. His difficulties also include making up to his older sister for unfairly accusing her of starting the fire that destroyed their father's home when they were children. Ayaan apologises to his sister after being beaten by his father in heaven. He succeeds by collecting white balls, and Chitragupta gives him a check for 18 crores for the sale of the house—something even Ayaan couldn't accomplish.

His wife and family were preparing to buy him a new car when they learned that it would be taken because of his bank loan, as Chitragupta demonstrates for him in actuality. The new car that Ruhi had purchased for Ayaan, however, is the one that crashed Aayan's vehicle.

The doctor informs him upon his return to Earth that his daughter, Pihu's kidneys are damaged, as are Ruhi's one kidney. Although Aayan had built a solid reputation in real estate, his family was in danger. Before going back into unconsciousness due to a medication overdose, Ayaan completed a donor form. Later, he makes his way back to heaven, where his father and Chitragupta are impressed with him. A new life is granted to Ayaan and his family by Chitragupta.  Ayaan repairs his family house and adopts a child after being granted a second chance at life. He's a different man now, placing a higher value on his family.

The comedy-drama Thank God, directed by Indra Kumar, was released in theatres on October 25th, 2022.

Reviews

Thank God is a film that entertains and enlightens a terrific family entertainer this Diwali, commented Bollywood Hungama of the film.  Ganesh Aaglave of Firstpost gave the film 3.5 out of 5 stars and stated Director Indra Kumar masterfully balances comedy and drama to give us a Diwali entertainer with Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh starrer Thank God. 

The film received a score of three out of five stars from Dhaval Roy of The Times of India, who also stated that it had a lesson or two about moving on regarding hardships, being empathetic and the value of one's family. Devesh Sharma of Filmfare gave the movie three out of five stars.

Character Analysis

As he plays The Game of Life, he grows as a person. Ajay Devgn portrays Chitragupt, also known as CG. He has amazing wit, along with his charisma. Rakul Preet Singh plays the part of Ayaan's wife Ruhi Kapoor in the film. She is a brave and determined police officer who implements her principles.
