Super 30 is a Bollywood movie inspired by the life of mathematician Anand Kumar, who runs the Super 30 program in Patna, Bihar. The movie follows the journey of Anand Kumar, a brilliant mathematician from a low-income family who dreams of studying abroad but is unable to do so due to financial constraints.
Anand begins teaching mathematics to children from underprivileged backgrounds in his hometown of Patna. Despite facing numerous obstacles and opposition, Anand remains determined to help these students achieve their dreams of attending prestigious colleges and universities.
As Anand continues to mentor and train his students, he faces challenges from wealthy parents who feel that their children are entitled to the program's resources, corrupt officials who seek to profit from the program, and personal health issues that threaten to derail his mission.
Despite these challenges, Anand perseveres, and his students eventually achieve remarkable success in their academic pursuits, with many of them being admitted to top universities around the world.
The movie culminates with Anand's Super 30 program achieving a 100% success rate, with all of his students passing the Joint Entrance Examination for the Indian Institutes of Technology. Anand's achievements serve as an inspiration to millions of people, proving that with hard work, determination, and a little bit of help, anything is possible.
The Times of India's Sreeparna Sengupta awarded the film three and a half stars out of five, praising Hrithik Roshan, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Srivastava, and Anay Goswami's cinematographer. She believed that Super 30 communicated the message that, while education is a privilege of people from affluent backgrounds, others can flourish equally if given a level playing field. While the narrative has flaws, Super 30 is a human drama and the story of a teacher who triumphs over the many challenges that life throws at him, to set an example for the world to see, she concluded. It's worth watching just for that.
India's Samrudhi Ghosh Today gave it two and a half stars out of five, but complemented Pankaj Tripathi and Aditya Srivastava's performances. Ghosh thought the film was too long and overly dramatic, adding, 'Under the guidance of maths wizard Anand Kumar, his Super 30 turned out to be miraculous.' Hrithik Roshan's Super 30 is far from one under the direction of Vikas Bahl.'
Hrithik Roshan's Super 30 first look posters were revealed on September 5, 2018, to coincide with India's Teacher's Day. On January 12, 2019, a second poster with a revised release date was revealed. On June 2, a new image featuring Hrithik Roshan from the film was released. The next day, another poster with Roshan soaking in the rain of success was published, with the motto Misaal Bano, Haqdaar Bano (Be an example, be qualified).Reliance Entertainment published the film's official trailer one day later, on June 4th. Since its debut on YouTube, it has received 44.99 million views.
According to the film's producer, Hrithik Roshan will be joined by Anand Kumar for the promotion of Super 30. The film was distributed theatrically in India on July 12, 2019, fourteen days earlier than planned. The picture was certified by the British Board of picture Classification as having a runtime of 155 minutes and was released on July 12, 2019.
