Piku Banerjee, an architect in Delhi, lives with her hypochondriac father Bhashkor. Their strained relationship is tested when Bhashkor insists on driving to Kolkata due to his constipation. Piku's regular taxi driver, Rana, takes them on the journey. Along the way, tensions rise, but Piku and Rana develop a connection. In Kolkata, Bhashkor softens his attitude and Piku decides not to sell their ancestral home. However, tragedy strikes when Bhashkor dies peacefully in his sleep. Piku organizes his funeral and learns about y and finds solace in playing badminton with Rana

It earned 11 crore on Sunday, for a domestic weekend total of 24.5 crore. Piku had the highest opening weekend for a Hindi film in 2015, grossing more than US$2 million. It maintained a strong hold on its first Monday, earning 25 crore), and had grossed 60 crore by the end of its first week. It amassed 70 crore in India in ten days. According to Box Office India, the film earned 22 crore in its second week and was expected to earn approximately 80 crore by the end of its theatrical run.
