Luka Chuppi is a film that revolves around the subject of live-in relationships in small towns like that of Mathura and Gwalior. A failing politician named Vishnu Trivedi (Vinay Pathak) seeks to outlaw cohabitation because it goes against the conservative system in India, but he is entirely clueless about the live-in relationship his daughter Rashmi (Kriti Sanon) is in.
Vinod Shukla, also known as Guddu (Kartik Aryan), is a prominent reporter for a regional news agency. At his place of work, he encounters intern Rashmi, the politician's daughter. After working together for a few days, Guddu asks Rashmi to marry him. She accepts, but she feels they should live together instead because neither of them is ready for marriage. Due to his conventional upbringing, Guddu is surprised by her choice and has some misgivings about her father, Vishnu, who is running an anti-cohabitation campaign to win the election. Guddu's closest buddy and cameraman Abbas (Aparshakti Khurana) muses and thinks hard before coming up with a plan for the two of them. He suggests that they should try a live-in relationship on their 20-day work trip to Gwalior. Impressed by the plan they both give heads up to it.
The couple relocates to Gwalior and leases an apartment. They both act exactly as a married pair would, but then the plot takes an unexpected turn. Their nosy neighbor thinks something doesn't seem right. To catch them in the act, she gathers the entire neighborhood. As soon as Guddu and Rashmi learn of this, they create false wedding images Rashmi poses as a newlywed and puts up fictitious images of a wedding. After successfully overcoming a significant obstacle, they are both finally accepted as a married couple by the neighborhood.
Later, their families find out that they have both eloped and wed one another. The moment Guddu's family learns of this, they immediately travel to Gwalior to greet the newlyweds. Though on the one hand, they feel deceived, on the other side they are happy that the couple decided to get married instead of living together as an unmarried couple.
Both of them decide to secretly get married since they believe they cannot continue to keep the truth from their families. They made numerous attempts to avoid their families, but they were always caught. After several fruitless efforts, they decided to wed in a mass wedding. The fact that Rashmi's father was the event's special guest was completely unknown to the couple. When they are both discovered here, Guddu defends himself. He tells Vishnu that the youth would make up his vote bank, but that he had broken their confidence by outlawing live-in partnerships and he lost their support. After a lengthy Kartik Aryan special monologue, Vishnu conceded that forbidding cohabitation was not the correct solution. The couple's acceptance by Vishnu resulted in their marriage. With their families' blessing, the pair were married.
On his Bollywood debut, Laxman Utekar delivered a flawless film. A humorous romantic comedy that challenges the orthodox way of thinking in India. Luka Chuppi, which is based in the small towns of Mathura and Gwalior, emphasizes the need for live-in partnerships to become more commonplace today.
Aparshakti Khurana and Pankaj Tripathi serve as the major comics in this comedy, which has great humor and punchlines.
Although Kartik Aryan and Kriti Sanon appear a little too sophisticated to be from a small town, they offer excellent performances and have an undoubtedly charming relationship.
In the second part of the movie, Luka Chuppi, which translates to "Hide and seek" in English, lives true to its name.
The movie has its moments of annoyance, but overall it's a fun, lighthearted movie that one can enjoy in their free time.
