Kai Po Che! is a 2013 Hindi Friends sports drama film directed by Abhishek Kapoor and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur under the banner of UTV Motion Pictures. It was the first solo effort for the banner under the Disney UTV brand. An adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's 2008 novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life stars debutant Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao, and Amit Sadh as the three major protagonists, with Amrita Puri as the female lead. It has a three-song soundtrack composed by Amit Trivedi with lyrics written by Swanand Kirkire.
Set in Ahmedabad from 2000 to 2012, Kai Po Che! follows three friends, Ishaan Ish Bhatt (Rajput), Omkar Omi Shastri (Sadh), and Govind Govi Patel (Rao), as they try to open their own sports shop and academy. The film also covers the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, the 2002 Godhra train burning, and the 2002 Gujarat riots. The film follows their great connection and their innocence as it is tainted by religious politics and social hate. On 13 February 2013, the film had its international premiere at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival, where it was the first Indian film to be featured in the international Panorama section.
Kai Po Che!, which was made on a $300 million (US$3.8 million) budget, was released worldwide on 22 February 2013 to critical acclaim in India but mixed reviews overseas, with an appreciation for Kapoor's direction and the performances of Rajput, Rao, and Sadh. The film grossed $830 million (US$10 million) globally, making it both a critical and commercial triumph. At the 59th Filmfare Awards, the film garnered six nominations, including Best Director for Kapoor, Best Supporting Actor for Rao, Best Male Debut for Rajput, and Best Story. The film received two nominations: Best Screenplay for Kapoor and Best Background Score for Hitesh Sonik.

The three boys' performances are outstanding: Sushant Singh Rajput (Ishaan), Raj Kumar Yadav (Govind), and Amit Sadh (Omi). Sushant deserves special attention for playing the best role and doing it justice. Amrita Puri is endearing. Amit Trivedi's music is soulful and captivating.
Despite the dark backdrop of death, destruction, and politics, Kai Po Che is endearing. You find yourself smiling between tears because, above all, it is a narrative of friendship and human victory.

Ishaan is an ex-district cricketer who wants to start a cricket academy. He is a natural leader who is passionate and driven. Ishaan exemplifies desire and perseverance, continuously chasing his dreams. He is also a devoted and loving friend, always looking out for Omi and Govind. His idealism, on the other hand, can occasionally blind him to the complexities of life, leading to rash actions.
Omi is Ishaan and Govind's close friend. He hails from a politically powerful family, and his friendship is conflicted with his family's political goals. Omi struggles with his sense of loyalty and frequently finds himself in contradicting positions. As the novel progresses, he undergoes a dramatic metamorphosis, grappling with shame, terror, and his own identity.
Govind is a calm, practical, and pragmatic individual. He enjoys mathematics and co-owns a sports store with Ishaan. Govind's logic frequently clashes with Ishaan's idealism, creating a tension within their friendship. He aims for financial success and stability, which leads him to make cautious decisions. Govind faces personal and professional hardships while remaining grounded.
