Introduction

A 2022 Hindi-language biographical sports movie called Jhund is based on the life of Vijay Barse, who founded the non-profit organisation Slum Soccer. Under the auspices of T-Series, Tandav Films Entertainment Pvt.Ltd., and Aatpat Films, it is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sandip Singh, Raaj Hiremath, Savita Hiremath, Nagraj Manjule, Gargee Kulkarni, and Meenu Arora. In Nagpur, the filming started in December 2018. Nagraj Manjule wrote and directed the film, which features Amitabh Bachchan, Akash Thosar, Rinku Rajguru, and Ankush Gedam.

Plot

The movie is based on the life of Vijay Barse, tells the story of a sports teacher who, on the verge of retirement, assembles a football team made up of kids from a slum and how just one game could change everyone's destiny. About 40% of football and 60% of social consciousness are shown in this movie.

The main credit goes to a retired school teacher played by Amitabh Bachchan, who took the initiative to bring about a change in these children by introducing them to football. Because of this, they left all their wrong ways and got a passion for pursuing in life. Good acting by the cast. Special appreciation goes to Ankush Gedam for his performance in the film. All actings he did, right from bad boy to good boy. Amitabh Bachchan's performance was also great, especially first time sharing the screen with so many youngsters, his grandchildren's age, that too performed flawlessly. Even I like Sayli Patels performance. The picture was a little long but yet it managed to keep us gauged till the end. The story was nice. The songs were also nice. Meaningful lyrics. Fighting scenes were also well performed. This picture had some elements and scenes which looked real. Love, romance, action, as well as motivation, are all there in this film. Even jhoppadi life is shown in this mainstream film. Applause worthy. The celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti and other Buddhist festivals is also shown in the film. Needs to be appreciated. One key message to be taken from the film, no matter whatever the wrong path you are walking right now, you can always bring about a change in yourself. It is totally in your hands. Good movie overall. I rate this movie 5 out of 5. Must recommend this movie to teenagers who have lost direction in life. This movie will teach you how to bounce back in life.”

• As this was a smaller film with production challenges, Amitabh Bachchan reduced his acting earnings by half. He instructed the film's producer, Sandeep Singh, to use that money to improve the film's appearance and atmosphere further.

• The script was written by Nagraj Manjule after Sairat 2016 was finished. Amitabh Bachchan was his sole option.

• The director of the movie based on the life of NGO slum soccer pioneer Vijay Barse is Nagraj Manjule.

• Based on the life of Nagpur native Vijay Barse. Because of this, all of the filmings will take place in Nagpur, Maharashtra, to further enhance its realism.
