Introduction

Jhimma is a Marathi language drama film directed by Hemant Dhome and produced by Chalchitra Company. Suhas Joshi, Nirmiti Sawant, Sonalee Kulkarni, Siddharth Chandekar, Kshitee Jog, Suchitra Bandekar, Mrinmayee Godbole, and Sayali Sanjeev star in the film, which was written by Irawati Karnik and is based on a tale by Dhome. The film's plot revolves around a group of seven women who travel to London, United Kingdom, to find themselves. It premiered in theatres on November 19, 2021, and earned 14.07 crore (US$1.8 million) at the box office, making it the second highest-grossing Marathi film of 2021.

Plot 

Seven females from various age groups and socio-cultural backgrounds travel to London on a tour company vacation. Throughout this journey, these ladies reveal their stories. This journey becomes a chance to mend fences, heal wounds, fall in love with themselves, face their worst fears, and enjoy life.

The film was supposed to be distributed in theatres on April 23, 2021,but it was postponed due to an increase in the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was then distributed in theatres on November 19, 2021. The film's satellite rights were sold to Star Pravah, and it was made accessible on VOD on Amazon Prime Video.

Review

The Times of India's Mihir Bhanage gave the film four stars out of five and complimented the ensemble performance, writing, Each one delivers beautiful performances, but it is Suhas Joshi and Nirmitee Sawant who steal the show. Bhanage concluded his review by saying, You only have one life, so live it to the fullest. This is the point Jhimma makes brilliantly, making it a must-see for everyone, particularly in the midst of the pandemic. Bobby Sing gave the picture three and a half stars in The Free Press Journal and praised the ensemble and musical performances. Sing concluded his review by saying, Watch it as a must and have a great evening with this entertaining family film in these trying times.

The film's principal photography started on July 9, 2019. The London shooting schedule was completed at the end of July 2019. The film's recording began on June 24, 2020. The film's premiere was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The director, Hemant Dhome, stated in November 2020 that the film will only be released in theatres.
