In the movie Jawan, the plot revolves around Vikram Rathore, a former soldier turned mastermind, who leads a team of six skilled women in executing a series of audacious heists across the country. Their latest target is the Mumbai Metro. Meanwhile, Vikram discovers that his long-lost son, Azaad Rathore, is a dedicated police officer caught in the line of fire. The story takes a dramatic turn when Kalee, the fourth most significant arms dealer worldwide and Vikram's former nemesis, enters the scene. As Vikram attempts to reconcile with his past and protect his son, he embarks on a mission to destroy Kalee. Amidst this mission, Vikram presents a set of demands to the government, leading to an electrifying and high-stakes showdown.
One of the most awaited Indian movies, Jawan, is getting ready for its grand release, which is making movie fans very excited. The movie will be released on the 7th of September 2023. It was made with a budget of 200 crores. It is expected that the movie will be a hit and win a ton of love and respect from the audience.
Jawan, directed by Atlee, is a high-octane action thriller that is underscored by a strong narrative filled with surprising twists and turns. Shah Rukh Khan (SRK), in his refreshing avatar as an action hero, delivers a magnetic performance as Captain Vikram Rathod, a vigilant jailer doubling as a desi Robin Hood. But at the heart of his brimming machismo, lies the soft, sensitive charm that classic SRK is renowned for.
The film excels in seamlessly blending emotions and familial drama with fast-paced action. Notable performances come from co-stars like Deepika Padukone, Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Girija Oak, and Lehar Khan, who all lend ample support to make the movie memorable. Particularly, Padukone's extended cameo leaves a lasting impact, and Sethupathi befits the villain's role with his peculiar blend of humor and rage.
Jawan displays an interesting mix of cultural and meta references, reminiscing viewers of popular TV shows, classic Hindi songs, and hit movies. Behind this mixture is a well-cooked tale coated with SRK-Atlee tadka. The structured story swings between humor, tragedy, and revenge, evidently penned by versatile writers Sumit Arora, Atlee, and Ramanagirivasan.
While the movie is indeed an action fest, it's heavily laced with political, personal, and social statements. SRK's expression of staunch democratic faith, and his distinct approach towards religious politics, forms the spine of the movie's underlying theme. The movie also rises beyond the action genre by giving due space to female actors and making powerful comments on fatherhood.
The film boasts of a befitting musical score by Anirudh Ravichander, with Zinda Banda and Chaleya standing out in the lot, although an abrupt placement of the latter could have been avoided. The animation, graphics, and the overall editing of the movie sit well with the audience, even though a tighter editing for its lengthy runtime of 2 hours 49 minutes might have done wonders.
In essence, Jawan isn't just a feast for action-lovers, catering to an adrenaline rush, but serves as a diverse palate for those seeking a mixture of a thrilling narrative, embodied performances, and socio-political undertones. Audiences who appreciate this blend, sprinkled with SRK's action hero resurrection, will find Jawan to their liking—a classic masala movie haven in true Bollywood style.

Shah Rukh Khan shines in his dual role as Vikram and Azaad Rathore. Vikram's character delivers intrigue and grandeur, echoing the heroes of gothic folktales with his face concealed by gauze and riding across the screen on a flaming horse. His transformation into Azaad 30 years later brings us an entirely different character, a bald-headed, wisecracking vigilante who, along with his female posse, hijacks a Mumbai metro. The Azaad character is given depth as it's revealed that he also serves as a jailer at a high-security women’s prison by day, and an ethical terrorist by night. Shah Rukh Khan embraces these paradoxes, giving us the thrilling anti-hero dynamic that has defined some of his best performances.
Nayanthara's portrayal of Narmada, Azad's wife, brings nuance to the plot. She is first introduced as a sentient observer to Azad's hijack planning but, later, complements the goofiness and intensity of Azad's character by being the fearless negotiator. Nayanthara underplays her typical heroine role, demonstrating a nuanced mastery of her character.
Vijay Sethupathi leaves a compelling impression as the mean, bearded arms dealer, Kaali. His menacing demeanor and clear antagonistic intent frame him as the cornerstone of conflict in the film. Sethupathi unleashes his wild side in the later scenes, bringing the much-needed villainy to the story.
Deepika Padukone's cameo as Aishwarya, Vikram's wife, though brief, is memorable. Her presence is powerful, exhibited through a flashback scene in which she is seen slamming Khan in the mud. Despite her limited screen time, she leaves an impression on the grand canvas of the film.
Though the character analysis does not provide much detail about Priyamani's role as Lakshmi, the narrative suggests that each character, regardless of screentime, contributes to the film's riveting dynamics, grounded in sociopolitical themes and Bollywood aesthetics.

Check out a behind-the-scenes video of Jawan's movie song 'Zinda Banda.' The video shows how the song was shot twice by Shah Rukh Khan in Hindi an Tamil so he'll be able to connect with both of the audience.
The Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara-starrer Jawan trailer release sparked a trend involving controversial NCB officer Sameer Wankhede. The dialogue spoken by Shah Rukh Khan's character after the credit line, Bete ko haath lagane se pahle, baap se baat kar, was perceived by fans as a message to Wankhede and his allies in Delhi. Social media users, particularly on Twitter and Reddit, saw this as a response to the arrest of Aryan Khan led by Wankhede in October 2021, followed by a media frenzy. Aryan was granted bail and cleared of charges, while Wankhede was later accused of corruption and extortion, with allegations suggesting the drug charges were an attempted blackmail against the Khan family.
