Play

A medical student named Dr. Uday Gupta just passed his M.B.B.S. final test. He resides in Bhopal with his best buddy Chaddi, who is studying for the civil services exam, and his widowed mother Shobha, who dreams of becoming a famous chef on social media through her cooking channels. Uday intends to pursue an orthopaedics post-graduate degree. But, his performance in the competitive entrance exam leaves him out of the Bhopal programme. Unwilling to leave his mother behind and relocate to another city for his studies, Uday chooses gynaecology because it is the greatest option in Bhopal. Ashok also tells Uday to seize the chance so that he can continue to prepare for the entrance exam the next year. Uday is introduced to Kavya Sharma, a high school student who also aspires to become a doctor and whom Ashok is infatuated with.

Uday's introduction to gynaecology doesn't go well; the stern Dr. Nandini Srivastav, the department head, is upset with him right away for enrolling in the course 10 days late, and his all-female coworkers bully him. Uday accuses his ex-girlfriend Ruchi of causing his current condition of affairs. Encouraged by Ashok, he contacts Ruchi while intoxicated to express his resentment. Nandini is irritated by Uday's lack of enthusiasm at work and his errors, and she inquires as to his motivations for choosing not to pursue a career in gynaecology. Uday responds that patients prefer a female doctor to examine them, hence male gynaecologists typically do poorly. Nandini rubbishes this and urges him to lose his masculine touch. After that, Uday progressively develops friendships with his coworkers, particularly his senior, Dr. Fatima Siddiqui. He eventually develops feelings for her, and they have a passionate kiss. Fatima, however, tells Uday that while he is a fine friend, she is engaged to Aarif, the guy she truly loves. She extends an invitation to him as well.

Release

Doctor G was released on 14 October 2022 in theatres. The movie was a wholesome experience for the audiences.

Character Analysis

The movie makes it quite evident that the protagonist is sexist. Even if it doesn't want you to like Dr. Uday Gupta, it does want you to be able to relate to him given the middle-class, small-town, patriarchal environment you have been exposed to. He is therefore not likeable but undoubtedly relatable. Ayushmann handles the rest. He finds it too simple to put himself in someone else's shoes these days, but unhappily, it has become monotonous. When the same template is offered each year with a different garnish, it lacks freshness.
