The film begins with close friends Laxmikant Hajare aka Lakshya (Laxmikant Berde), Mahesh Nemade (Mahesh Kothare), and Bappa Bajrangi (Deepak Shirke) in prison, supporting themselves with little crimes. Mahesh and Bappa stop committing crimes and go their separate ways after prison. Lakshya doesn't want to leave his pals since togetherness is strength. Mahesh and Bappa decide to live apart, leaving Lakshya alone and helpless.
Lakshya finds a five rupee coin on the street and puts it in his jacket pocket. Lakshya retrieves the currency from the street since his pocket has a hole. Multiple times. Lakshya enters a restaurant and eats several dishes, thinking he has fifteen rupees. Lakshya learns he can't pay the restaurant's bill. The restaurant owner expels Lakshya.
Lakshya finds the five rupee coin on the street again and plays poker to make money. He wins a few hundred rupees in poker, but he cheats. Mahesh and Bappa save Lakshya as they come to the same pub. Lakshya, Mahesh, and Bappa leave town and promise to be friends.
They reach Shivapur and promise to be law-abiding citizens at Lord Shiva's temple. Lakshya falls in love with Ganga (Prajakta Kulkarni), a flower seller outside the temple, there. Lakshya's stone accidentally hits Ganga's uncle Constable Rede (Ravindra Berde), who violently arrests him. Mahesh falls in love with Sub-Inspector Uma Jadhav (Ashwini Bhave) at the police station.
In police custody, Lakshya encounters Divtya (Bipin Varti), who treats him like a servant. Divtya's companions soon raid the police station to free him. Lakshya arrests Divtya's accomplices. Uma frees Lakshya, who rejoins Mahesh and Bappa. After the trio save Ganga from goons, she lets them stay in her cattle shed.
Divtya and his comrades work for the sadistic Kautya Mahakaal (Chandrakant Pandya), a skull-masked crime lord who funds crime in Shivapur and is a fugitive. Uma hates him since he killed her parents. Divtya and a few other henchmen try to capture Lakshya and Ganga, who escape and end up at the ruins of an old fort to liberate Kautya Mahakaal's arrested henchman.
Lakshya finds a bottle with a doppelganger inside the abandoned fort. Gangaram (Laxmikant Berde), Lakshya's genie ancestor, introduces himself. Gangaram informs Lakshya that hundreds of years ago, a guru cursed him by sealing him in a bottle with magical sand. The guru told him that his curse will be lifted when his descendant uses the sand he gave him for his own gain.
Lakshya helps Gangaram break his curse after knowing this. Gangaram protects Lakshya and Ganga from Kautya Mahakaal's thugs and Rede's disapproval. Later that day, Lakshya, Mahesh, and Bappa colour Lord Shiva's temple, but they are shocked to discover Gangaram exists from Lakshya. Gangaram magically colours the temple from the trio's cattle shed in five minutes.
During Mahashivratri, Kautya Mahakaal and his troops attack Shivapur. Gangaram helps the trio defeat the rural criminals. Kautya Mahakaal discovers Gangaram's reality and chooses to take the bottle for himself. Divtya tries to take the bottle of Gangaram from the trio's cattle shed that night, but Lakshya turns him into a frog.
Kautya Mahakaal retaliates by kidnapping Lakshya and Ganga with the Gangaram bottle. Mahesh, Bappa, Uma, and Rede desperately hunt for them and locate a wounded Kautya Mahakaal henchman at the kidnapping spot. Mahesh, Bappa, and Uma arrive in time to rescue Lakshya and Ganga after forcing him to divulge Kautya Mahakaal's location.
Lakshya urges Gangaram to kill his entire gang after retrieving the bottle from Kautya Mahakaal, but Gangaram's sandbag is empty. Gangaram tells Lakshya to battle Kautya Mahakaal and that mental strength is the actual magic as Mahesh, Bappa, and Uma are caught by the henchmen. Lakshya, encouraged by Gangaram, defeats Kautya Mahakaal, his troops, Mahesh, and Bappa.
Rede calls the police when Lakshya and Mahesh knock Kautya Mahakaal out. All of Kautya Mahakaal's henchmen are arrested and imprisoned, and Rede approves Lakshya and Ganga's marriage. Kautya Mahakaal wakes up and kills Lakshya before fleeing his refuge. Mahesh chases and fights Kautya Mahakaal.
Uma kills Kautya Mahakaal to avenge her parents' deaths. Mahesh and Uma return to the crime scene with Ganga, Bappa, and Rede to mourn Lakshya, who survives with Gangaram's blessings. Before leaving, Gangaram tells everyone to always be mighty and overcome all evil and to never part and stay united. Gangaram travels to heaven after being released from his curse.
