It was released on DVD in a single-disc pack on October 8, 2007, by Eros International. Since May 23, 2017, it has been available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

According to the production company, more than 200 international crew members and 1,400 extras were involved in primary photography. Bharat's first-day domestic take was 42.30 crore. This is Salman Khan's highest-ever first-day gross. The second day saw a drop in multiplex screenings but a solid showing in single-screen theatres, earning 31 crores, bringing the total to Rs 78.87 crore. The film had a worldwide gross collection of 325.58 crores as of September 25, 2019, with a gross of 251.27 crores in India and 74.31 crores internationally. Bharat is 2019's fifth highest-grossing Bollywood film.  Based on the domestic net collection, the film is in the top twenty among Hindi films with the highest domestic net collection.

• It is an official adaptation of a South Korean film titled 'An Ode To My Father'.

• For shooting, original steam engines were also used.

• Priyanka Chopra was initially cast as the female lead opposite Salman Khan. However, due to her engagement and subsequent wedding, she had to opt out of the project. Katrina Kaif later replaced her.
