Aarohi Keshav Shirke (Shraddha Kapoor), a gifted and aspiring singer from a small town, and Rahul Jaykar (Aditya Roy Kapur), a once-famous singer who is battling alcoholism and self-destructive tendencies, are the focus of "Aashiqui 2"'s love story.

During a singing competition, Rahul, who is troubled by his past failures, discovers Aarohi's untapped ability. Rahul agrees to mentor her after being moved by her voice and his desire to revitalise his own career. He aids Aarohi in getting her start in the music business, and their business partnership quickly develops into a passionate and intense love affair.

• The movie received a score of 4 out of 5 stars from Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama, who wrote that it "brings romance back on the Hindi screen - powerful, pure, unselfish and heart breaking. This one is a must-watch for romantics since it has spectacular moments, breathtaking performances, a high emotional resonance, and irresistible music. He wrote that the performances of the main cast were excellent.

• Anupama Chopra, who reviewed films for Hindustan Times, gave the movie a 2.5 out of 5 rating and felt that it fell short of its potential, but she added, "It's a fascinating premise and Suri and his actors build it up beautifully. Rahul's anxiety is given a certain appeal by Aditya. He is broken and sincere. And Shraddha, whose pale face has a disturbing tenderness, is the real winner here. She is excellent as the woman engulfed in a great passion who trusts that love will lead the way.
