Sudha Chandran is an Actress and Bharatanatyam dancer who performs in Indian television and motion pictures. She suffered a leg injury in a car accident in 1981 while travelling with her parents from Madras to Tiruchirapalli Tamil Nadu. Her parents decided to amputate her limb after it developed gangrene. She later rose to prominence as a Bharatnatyam dancer though.
Chandran is well-known for her roles as Ramola Sikand in Kaahin Kisii Roz Yamini Singh and Seema Gujral in Naagin 1 2 3 and 6 and as Chitradevi in Deivam Thandha Veedu the Tamil version of Saath Nibhana Saathiya For the Telugu movie Mayuri which is based on her life she received the National Film Award - Special Jury Award at the 33rd National Film Awards in 1985.
She participated in the reality dance competition Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

Sudha Chandran had an accident in Tamil Nadu in May 1981 when she was just 16 years old that left her with broken legs. She was initially treated for her injuries at a nearby hospital before being transferred to Vijaya Hospital in Madras.
Doctors had to amputate her right leg because gangrene(worn tissue and blood clot) had developed on it. Chandran claims that this phase in her life was the most difficult. A prosthetic Jaipur foot helped her regain some mobility after that.

The name of her mother and siblings remain unknown.
During the filming of the movie Sudha met associate director Ravi Dang. It was love at first sight for Sudha and she later decided to get married.
However because she is Tamil and he is Punjabi her family did not approve of their union. Despite their best efforts to persuade them they refused. The pair finally fled away and got married after considerable persuasion.
Sudha Chandran and assistant director Ravi Dang were married at the Chiranagar Murugan Temple in Chembur in 1994. The couple however does not have any children and have been living their lives happily together for more than 25 years.
When she was three and a half years old she began dancing. Her passion for dance led her to choose artistic studies in high school rather than science. The decision was made only with the intention of allowing her to keep dancing in mind. Her love of dance only grew stronger over time but due to a series of unfortunate circumstances she was not even sure if she would ever be able to dance again.
She was involved in an accident on the bus that required the amputation of her right foot. That was the worst that could happen to an eager young dancer. It took her three years to recuperate and feel normal after getting a Jaipuri leg and Physiotherapy sessions.
She was sick of hearing about how she couldn't dance again and the unsolicited pity she received only strengthened her resolve to dance again. She went to her father and informed him that she was prepared to perform once more after going through a tedious and drawn-out process of learning to dance all over again.
She was more anxious because this was her comeback and the headlines in the media read Loses a Foot Walks a Mile.
Sudha Chandran made her acting debut in the Telugu film Mayuri. The movie was based on her own life. This movie was dubbed in Tamil and Malayalam. The movie is called Naache Mayuri in Hindi.
Additionally Sudha reprised her role in that movie alongside Shekhar Suman Dina Pathak and Aruna Irani. She received the Special Jury Award at the 1986 National Film Awards for her performance in Mayuri.
