While painting and freelancing for advertising agencies, Sandeep was also interested in acting until he met Pandit Satyadev Dubey and worked with him on rigorous theatre and workshops, including a large production of a Hindi classical play called Andha Yug in which he shared the stage with amazing actors such as Naseeruddin Shah, Amrish Puri, Akaash Khurana, and Mohan Bhandari. Sandeep found himself well suited to be an actor and theatre director after being heavily affected and inspired by Dubeyji's teachings and simultaneously working with notable theatre directors such as Vijaya Mehta, Sunil Shanbhaug, and Chetan Datar.
