Robin Minz started was born in Ranchi. Robin started playing cricket when he was eight years old. In the beginning, he used to play cricket with a wooden bat made of jalawal. Seeing Robin's dedication towards cricket, his father decided to get him trained in Namkum, Ranchi. Robin started his cricket coaching career at Namkum Bazaar ground and then coached at St. Xavier's School. After that he took training in Sonet Coaching. Where he improved his game under the guidance of coaches Chanchal Bhattacharya, SP Gautam and Asif Haq.

Family

Robin Minz was born on 13 September 2001 in Gumla, a tribal dominated district of Jharkhand. However, his childhood was spent in Namkum, Ranchi. His father, Francis Xavier Minz, was in the Indian Army and is currently working at Ranchi Airport. His mother's name is Alice Tirkey, who is a housewife. Robin has two sisters, Karishma Minz and Rosita Minz. Robin was interested in cricket since childhood. He started playing cricket, inspired by his idol Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Education

Robin Minz received his primary education from Namkum, Ranchi. He completed her schooling from Majarolo Convent School, Namkum. Robin has studied till 10th class. After this he devoted all his time to cricket and learned professional cricket in Ranchi.

Team

Currently he plays for Gujarat Titans. He was bid on by not one but two prominent teams, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titains at the 2024 IPL auction. However, the latter had the highest bid on him for 3.6 crore rupees.

Career

After continuous practice and sweating at Namkum Ground, Robin started playing matches with Gumla District Cricket Team. Apart from this, he also participated in many matches with local teams. He surprised everyone by hitting long sixes. After which people also started calling him Gail of Ranchi. Robin Minz has played matches for Jharkhand as a wicketkeeper-batsman in Under-19 and Under-25 teams. In the 2020-21 season, during an open trial, Robin demonstrated his strength in the first under-19 match by scoring 60 runs and hitting five sixes. Robin impressed everyone with his explosive batting in the Inter District Cricket Tournament held under the auspices of Jharkhand State Cricket Association. He is an expert in hitting big shots. In 2022, he scored an unbeaten 73 off 35 balls during a T20 tournament in Odisha.

In the last few years, Robin has produced impressive innings with the bat. He had scored two back to back centuries in Deoghar. Impressed by Robin's performance, last year IPL team Delhi Capitals called him for trials. But then he could not become a part of the Delhi team. After this, five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians selected Robin for the England tour in trials. Where he performed very well. Robin Minz is compared to his idol MS Dhoni.

Robin Minz remained unsold in the 2023 IPL auction. However, he did not give up and continued working hard. The result of which he got in the mini auction of 2024 IPL. During the 2024 IPL auction, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans bid heavily for Robin. Both franchises kept bidding for Robin Minz, who joined the auction at a base price of Rs 20 lakh, and finally Gujarat Titans included Robin Minz in their team with a bid of Rs 3.6 crore, which is 18 times his base price. 

With this, Robin Minz has become the first tribal cricketer of Jharkhand, who has reached the most glamorous format of cricket, IPL, from the small village of Gumla. In an interview, Robin's father revealed that MS Dhoni once met him at the airport and assured him that if no team picked Robin in the IPL 2024 auction, Dhoni would ensure that Chennai Super Kings Choose them. Now Robin would like to capitalize on this opportunity well and earn name on the international stage.
