Ritika Mohan Singh is an Indian actress and former MMA fighter who appears primarily in Tamil films as well as Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam films. After boxing for India at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games and then taking part in the Super Fight League, she was cast in a leading role in Sudha Kongara Prasad's Tamil film Irudhi Suttru, which was also simultaneously filmed in Hindi as Saala Khadoos. She shared the screen with R. Madhavan in this film. As a result of her work in the movie, she was honored with a Special Mention at the 63rd Annual National Film Awards. She was honored with three Filmfare Awards for the same role in three different languages: Tamil (for the film Irudhi Suttru), Hindi (for the film Saala Khadoos), and Telugu (for the film Guru). She is the recipient of a National Award, a SIIMA Award, and three Filmfare Awards in their respective categories.
Ritika Singh was born on 16 December 1993. She is 29 years old as of 2023. Her zodiac sign is Sagittarius.
Ritika Singh received her education at the Smt. K.C. Gandhi English School in Kalyan, which is located in the state of Maharashtra.
Ritika Singh has been a kickboxer and mixed martial artist since she was a child, because of her father's guidance. She participated as a mixed martial artist in the debut season of the Super Fight League and made an appearance in the competition.
Ritika Singh started her acting career in 2013. She was spotted in an advertisement for the Super Fight League by director Sudha Kongara Prasad, and she later auditioned for a leading role in her bilingual film, Saala Khadoos (2016), after the makers managed to contact her through the competition's chairman, Raj Kundra. The producers of the film wanted a professional boxer to act in the role of Madhi, a Marwari girl who grows up in the slums of Chennai. They did not want an actress to play the role of a boxer. That is why they signed Singh. Singh phonetically learned her part in the Tamil version of Irudhi Suttru by writing down the dialogues in Hindi first and then translating them into Tamil. The movie was released at the end of January 2016, and it was co-produced by the two main actors in the film, R. Madhavan and Rajkumar Hirani.
Ritika is the first actress to be recognized at the National Awards for a role that she did not dub, as she won the Special Mention award for her performance in Irudhi Suttru and became the first recipient of the award at the 63rd Annual National Film Awards. Singh made a subsequent appearance in Manikandan's Aandavan Kattalai, which was first shown to the public in September 2016. His next movie will be a remake of the Tamil film Irudhi Suttru called Guru (2017), which will be released in Telugu. After that, she had roles in the Telugu film Neevevaro (2018) and the horror comedy P. Vasu's Shivalinga (2017). Oh My Kadavule was a film that she appeared in alongside Ashok Selvan and Vani Bhojan in the year 2020. She played the role of the female protagonist.
Early in 2011, Kongara wrote the script for the movie. He then asked Madhavan to play the main role. This is Madhavan's first movie in Tamil in four years. The film's pre-production work started in 2013, and Sashikanth officially announced it in May 2014. The filming of the movie started in July 2014 and ended in December of the same year. The whole movie was shot in fifty days. The music was written by Santhosh Narayanan, and the background score was written by Sanjay Wandrekar and Atul Raninga (for the Hindi version). Sivakumar Vijayan shot the movie, and Sathish Suriya edited it.
In this movie, the plot shows that Anu, Arjun, and Mani have been best friends since they were young. During a party to celebrate Arjun passing his Engineering backlog exams, Anu tells the other two that her father, Paulraj, is looking for a husband for her. She asks him out of the blue if he would like to marry her, and he says yes. After a year, Anu and Arjun can be seen in family court for their final divorce hearing. A man sits behind Arjun and tells him that he won't get his divorce that day because his wife will pass out and have to be taken to the hospital. He then gives Arjun a business card and leaves. To Arjun's surprise, everything this strange man said would happen did happen, and the case was moved to the evening. Arjun runs as fast as he can to the address on the card. There, he meets the man, who tells him that he is God. Arjun tells God about his problems.
