Ghattamaneni Ramesh Babu was an Indian actor and producer most known for his work in Telugu cinema. In 1974 Babu made his screen debut in the movie Alluri Seetharama Raju. Before ending his acting career in 1997 he appeared in more than 15 movies. 

In 2004 he started a film production firm called Krishna Productions Private Ltd. which bears his father's name. His brother Mahesh Babu played the lead part in both of the movies he produced Arjun and Athidhi. His final performance was as a presenter in the 2011 movie Dookudu. Ramesh Babu passed away on 8th January 2022 due to liver disease.

Ramesh Babu’s Film Debut-Alluri Seetarama Raju (1974)

Ramesh Babu made his on-screen debut with the film Alluri Seetharama Raju in 1974.At the age of 12 Ramesh Babu acted with his father in the film Manushulu Chesina Dongalu in 1977. After two years when he was 14 years old Dasari Narayana Rao put him in a pivotal role in the movie Needa. 

Ramesh Babu’s Breakthrough (1987-1989)

Ramesh Babu acted as a lead in the V. Madhusudhana Rao-helmed movie Samraat in 1987. Sonam played a crucial part in the movie alongside Ramesh and Sharada. He appeared in movies like Jandhyala's Chinni Krishnudu A. Kodandarami Reddy's Bazaar Rowdy Kaliyuga Karnudu and others in 1988. His father directed Kodandarami Reddy's Bazaar Rowdy Kaliyuga Karnudu and Mugguru Kodukulu. Mugguru Kodukulu was joined on stage by his father and brother. 

Ramesh Babu’s Movie Success (1989-1997)

Ramesh experienced his first success as a solo hero with the box office smashes Bazaar Rowdy. He appeared in the 1989 films Krishna Gaari Abbayi by V. Madhusudhana Rao and Dasari Narayana Rao's Black Tiger.

He appeared in the 1990 films Ayudham by K. Murali Mohan Rao and Kaliyuga Abhimanyudu by S. S. Ravichandra. He appeared in the 1991 film Naa Ille Naa Swargam alongside his father. 

He worked with Dasari Narayana Rao once more on the 1993 movie Maama Kodalu and starred opposite Aamani in Anna Chellelu. In the 1994 movie Pacha Thoranam he made his final appearance in a major role. Rambha acted opposite Ramesh in the Adurthi Saibhaskar-directed movie. He appeared in a supporting part in N. Shankar's Encounter in 1997. 

Ramesh Babu’s Debut as Producer- Krishna Productions Private Ltd (2004)

Ramesh Babu founded Krishna Productions Private Ltd a film production firm in Hyderabad in 2004. With the film Arjun he made his film production debut and gave the business the name of his father. The movie which was directed by Gunasekhar and starred his brother Mahesh Babu Shriya Saran Keerthi Reddy Raja Prakash Raj and Saritha was a financial success and ran in theatres for 100 days in six locations. 

His production company received appreciation for the Thotta Tharani-built Meenakshi Amman Temple set which cost 40 million INR. Athidhi was his subsequent producing endeavor. Mahesh Babu played the lead role in the Surender Reddy-directed movie once more. Amrita Rao played a bad character opposing Mahesh and Murali Sharma.

Ramesh Babu's production company and UTV Motion Pictures worked together to make the movie Athidhi. For the first time ever a corporate company produced a Telugu movie. The movie received poor reviews when it debuted and did poorly at the box office. He was a presenter for the movie Dookudu in 2011.
