Martin James Guptill a cricket player for New Zealand who competes internationally bats first in the limited-overs versions of the game. Guptill holds the current record for the greatest individual score in Cricket World Cup matches and the second-best score in One Day Internationals of 237 not out.

Guptill competes in domestic cricket for Auckland and club cricket for Suburbs New Lynn. In his first and second innings of first-class cricket which he played in March 2006 he scored a four-ball duck and 99 respectively. Guptill made his debut for New Zealand at the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for New Zealand on January 10 2009 against the West Indies in Auckland. He was the first New Zealander to score a century on his ODI debut and his 122 not out is the second-highest debut score in ODI history. He was also the first New Zealander to bat through an entire ODI inning. In the first Test at Hamilton in March 2009 he played his maiden Test match against India and recorded scores of 14 and 48.
