In the 2020 Asia & Oceania Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament in March 2020 Lovlina Borgohain defeated Uzbek Maftunakhon Melieva 5-0 to earn a spot in the 69 kg Olympic competition. She has now achieved a first for Assam sportswomen by qualifying for the Olympics. She finished with a bronze medal at the Asian Olympic Qualifiers after losing to Gu Hong of China the 2018 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships silver medalist in a unanimous 5-0 decision.
