Given that Kavya and Dileep have worked on more than 18 films together people frequently wonder if they are a couple. Kavya was allegedly to blame for his 2015 divorce from Manju Warrier. Even though Kavya and Dileep continued to deny their relationship she was referred to as the other lady in their lives.

In 2016 Dileep and Kavya exchanged vows in a discreet ceremony at the Vedanta Hotel in Kochi. Dileep provided specific statements about their marriage to provide clarification. The comments however were viewed as sexist and male chauvinistic. Dileep stated in an interview that he made the choice to get married after consulting with his daughter mother family and friends. Because of me a lot of rumors have been spread about my koottukaari (friend). Consequently I reasoned that it just wouldn't be right if I married someone else (laughs). Hence this choice.
