Hoyeon Jung also known as Jung Hoyeon is a South Korean model and actress (Korean: ; born June 23 1994). In 2010 she started working as an independent model spending two years walking in shows at Seoul Fashion Week. 

She participated in Korea's Next Top Model's fourth season in 2013 and finished as runner-up. After making her worldwide catwalk debut during New York Fashion Week she became well-known for her fiery red hair. In 2016 she was a Louis Vuitton exclusive and in 2021 she was named the brand's worldwide ambassador.

In 2021 she made her television debut as Kang Sae-byeok in the Netflix series Squid Game which became the show's breakout success and garnered her widespread media recognition. She received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her work on the programme.

While freelancing Jung auditioned for the second season of the OnStyle reality competition series Korea's Next Top Model in 2011 but left after making it into the top 30. She signed with ESteem Models in 2012 and went on to compete on the fourth season of Korea's Next Top Model. Jung began taking modeling classes at the age of 15 and she started working as a freelance model in 2010 at the age of 16. She walked in shows for Seoul Fashion Week without an agency.

Before signing with The Society Management and departing South Korea in 2016 to pursue a career abroad Jung was featured in spreads for the Korean editions of magazines like Vogue Elle and W. She was also signed to Elite Model Management and Nomad Management.  Before moving to New York Jung accidentally dyed her hair a fiery red color which became her signature look.

The show centres on a competition in which 456 participants all of whom are experiencing extreme financial hardship put their lives in danger by participating in a series of dangerous children's games in an effort to win a prize of 45.6 billion ($35 million €33 million or £29 million as of broadcast). The series' name is based on a kid's game with a similar name that is popular in Korea. Hwang had developed the concept in response to his own early-life financial hardships the class divide in South Korea and capitalism. Though he had first conceived of the idea in 2009 he was unable to secure funding for it until Netflix became interested in it in 2019 as part of their effort to broaden their selection of international programming.

A series of kid's games are offered as an opportunity to win a sizable cash reward and Seong Gi-hun a divorced father and debt-ridden gambler who lives with his ailing mother accepts the invitation. When he accepts the deal he is driven to an unidentified location with 455 other players who are all in dire financial straits. The Front Man who wears a black mask and a black uniform oversees the games while the players are required to wear green tracksuits and are constantly watched over by masked guards wearing pink jumpsuits. The players quickly learn that dropping out of a game results in their death with each death raising the potential grand prize to a whopping 45.6 billion dollars.

HoYeon Jung’s Controversy

On March 9th Jung Ho-yeon posted a picture of herself stepping on a floor sign that reads Number 1 to her Instagram account without adding a special caption. The tweet appears to refer to Jung Ho-opening yeon's act for the Women's collection fashion show on March 7 at 10:30 p.m. in Paris France at the Orsay Museum (Korean Standard Time). 

Because the actress's article was published on the exact day of the 20th presidential election some Korean internet users mistook it for support for a particular candidate and attacked her.

The comments on Jung Ho-message yeon's which was shared on a number of internet forums including clien and fmkorea were mixed. Some others advised caution on days like these or stated that you couldn't post these things on election day etc. Other people said She posted it out of joy. Please don't read too much into it; don't interpret everything politically. In response to the uproar Jung Ho-yeon removed her Instagram post.
