It is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film co-written and directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Salman Khan Rockline Venkatesh and Kabir Khan. The film stars Salman alongside debutante Harshaali Malhotra Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and tells the story of Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi a Hanuman devotee who sets out on a journey to return a mute six-year-old girl Shahida who has been separated from her mother in India to her hometown.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan received widespread critical acclaim upon its release with critics praising its storyline dialogues music cinematography direction and cast performances particularly those of Salman Khan Siddiqui and Malhotra and became a huge commercial success grossing 969 crores ($150 million) worldwide making it the fifth highest-grossing Indian film and the second highest-grossing Bollywood film. 

At the 63rd National Film Accolades it received the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and it was nominated for four awards at the 61st Filmfare Awards including Best Film Best Director (Kabir Khan) and Best Actor (Salman Khan) and it won Best Story (V. Vijayendra Prasad). It was also nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 2015 Douban Film Awards in China.

Katrina Kaif Controversy

Harshaali Malhotra who played the much-loved character of 'Munni'/'Shahida' in the film Bajrangi Bhaijaan received a lot of backlash for referring to Katrina as 'auntie' in a birthday message shared on her Facebook page. Harshaali's account (which is believed was controlled/supervised by her mother Kajal) posted a photo of the two with the message 'Happy Birthday... Katrina Aunty' on Facebook. On Katrina's 33rd birthday this was posted. Some however were offended by the use of the term Auntie and mocked Harshaali for the remark.
