Biography

danny-denzongpa-biography-tringTshering Phintos Denzongpa was the original name given to Danny Denzongpa when he was born on March 25, 1948, in Gangtok, Sikkim. He is of native Sikkimese and Bhutanese descent. Birla Vidya Mandir and St. Josephs's School in Nainital are two of the educational institutions that Danny Denzongpa attended and graduated from. Due to the fact that Danny was brought up in a family that is involved in the horse breeding industry, he has had an interest in horseback riding ever since he was a young child.

Danny joined the Indian Army with the intention of eventually becoming an officer in the military. His outstanding performance earned him the title of Best Cadet in West Bengal, and he was subsequently accepted into the esteemed Armed Forces Medical College in Pune. However, later on, due to the insistence of his mother, he was forced to withdraw his name from Army College and instead enrolled at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

While he was a student at FTII, he shared a classroom with the actress Jaya Bhaduri. It was she who suggested that he change his name to Danny because his birth name was difficult to say. Since that time, people have been referring to him as Danny Denzongpa. It was the film Zaroorat that marked the beginning of his career, which was then followed by a string of other films. Following his standout performance in the short film Lahoo Ke Do Rang, he was considered for extended parts in films of the highest quality. Mere Apne, directed by Gulzar in 1971, was his first major film role.

Because Danny has such a serious demeanor, he is almost always cast in roles that are unfavorable. He had given his power-packed performances in The Burning Train as Randhir, Andar Baahar as Shera, Aandhi Toofan as Balbir, Bhagwaan Dada as Gangwaa, Hum as Bakhtawar, Ghatak as Kaatya, Krantiveer as Chatur Singh, Pukar (2000) as Abhrush and in Tamil film Enthiran as Dr. Bohra. His character performance as the iconic Kancha Cheena in Agneepath (1990) brought dreadful terror to the visualizers, despite the fact that all of his acts were magnificent. His performances in Sanam Bewafa (1992) and Khuda Gawah (1993) earned him the title of Filmfare's Best Supporting Actor Award in both of those years, back-to-back. Additionally, he has the experience of working alongside Brad Pitt on the international production of the movie Seven Years in Tibet.

In addition to his powerful acting abilities, he possesses a melodious voice and has collaborated on recordings with three of the most legendary figures in Indian music: Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, and Asha Bhosle. He has provided his voice for a number of songs in Nepalese, some of which are still considered to be hits in that country.

danny-denzongpa-family-tringAround the year 1989, Danny's mother had a chance encounter in Gangtok with a young lady named Gawa, and after getting to know her better, she decided that she would make an excellent choice for Danny's future spouse. But Danny was not going to rush into an arranged marriage and instead decided to continue his relationship with Gawa for a while longer. Gawa was the last heir to the Chogyal dynasty of rulers, who ruled portions of Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya. Gawa came from an aristocratic family and was the last heir to the Chogyal dynasty.

After dating for a few months, Danny and Gawa felt they had sufficient chemistry to move their relationship forward and decided to propose to their respective families. The wedding that Danny Denzongpa had with Gawa in Gangtok in 1990 was an example of a traditional Sikkimese ceremony, and it took place in the year 1990. Career

Danny-Denzongpa-careerDanny's first movie was B.R. Ishara's Zaroorat, which came out in 1971 and was his debut. Mere Apne, directed by Gulzar and released in 1971, was the film that gave him his first significant role. He made his debut in the role of a villain in B.R. Chopra's film Dhundh (1973), in which he played the part of a crippled and resentful husband.

In films that were commercially successful and critically acclaimed in the seventies, such as Chor Machaye Shor, 36 Ghante, Fakira, Sangram (1976), Kalicharan, Kaala Sona, and Devata, he played the second lead hero and had more positive roles. After the success of the films Phir Wahi Raat, Jeeo Aur Jeene Do, and Dharm Aur Qanoon, he began to receive more frequent offers to play the negative character in Hindi films. After that, he went on to play the role of the antagonist in a number of different productions since 1984. Beginning in 1984 and continuing into the 1990s, Danny was cast almost exclusively in the role of the lead antagonist opposite the careers of the most prominent actors working in Bollywood at the time, including Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Mithun Chakraborty, Vinod Khanna, Anil Kapoor, and Sunny Deol. He stated the following in an interview: "Had it not been that I had done the four special negative roles with Rajesh Khanna, in the lead Phir Wohi Raat, Dharm Aur Qanoon, Bandish, and Aashiq Hoon Baharon Ka, people would not have considered me for villainous roles. In Adhikar I had a positive role. Because he recognized me and supported me through the difficult times that I was going through in the early eighties, he has a special place in my heart."

Top 5 Movies of Danny Denzongpa

Agneepath

Agneepath is a 1990 Indian Hindi-language action film that was written and written jointly by Santosh Saroj and Kader Khan. The film was directed by Mukul Anand and was released in India. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Vijay, a man who decides to become involved in the criminal underworld of Mumbai in order to seek revenge for the death of his father and the wrongs done to his family.

The life story of a gangster from Mumbai named Manya Surve served as the basis for the movie. The poem Agneepath, which bears the same name as the film, was written by Amitabh Bachchan's father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan. This poem is recited at the beginning of the film, and it establishes a thematic link that persists throughout the film, both literally and metaphorically. The title of the film was taken from this poem.

Over the course of time, Agneepath has developed into a significant cult film. Amitabh Bachchan was honored with the title of Best Actor at the 38th Annual National Film Awards for his performance, which earned him his first National Film Award. Both Mithun Chakraborty and Rohini Hattangadi were awarded the title of Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress at the 36th Annual Filmfare Awards. In spite of the fact that it was the fourth highest-grossing film of 1990, the film's earnings were significantly lower than its enormous production budget, and as a result, the film was not successful at the box office. In 2012, Johar's son Karan Johar paid homage to his filmmaking father by remaking the film under the same name and giving it a new release date.

Ghatak: Lethal

Ghatak: Lethal is an Indian movie made in Hindi-language which was directed by Santoshi, it starred Sunny Deol, Meenakshi Seshadri, and Amrish Puri and featured Danny Denzongpa as the antagonist. It was Santoshi's third collaboration with Deol, Seshadri, and Puri after Ghayal (1990) and Damini (1993). It earned 84 crore rupees worldwide and became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year. At the 42nd Filmfare Awards, where it was also nominated for three other awards, it won three awards, including Best Supporting Actor for Puri. Santoshi won best director, Deol won best actor, and Denzongpa won best villain. Ghatak is Seshadri's last film to date. The movie was subsequently remade in Telugu as Aapthudu (2004), with Rajasekhar and Anjala Zaveri in the lead roles.

The story of the movie revolves around Kashi, played by Sunny Deol, an honest boxer, and Shambhu Nath's (Amrish Puri) adopted son who lives in Banaras. Shambhu Nath is a good man in town. He fought for independence and was given the Tambra Patra for his efforts. Kashi goes to Mumbai with his father to get his throat treated, and they stay with K. K. Raina's brother Shiv Nath. Kashi meets Gauri (Meenakshi Seshadri) and starts liking her. He finds out that a cruel thief named Katya (Danny Denzongpa) and his six brothers are terrorizing the colony. Before Kashi comes, a man named Sachdev (Om Puri) tries to start a rebellion against Katya. Katya kills Sachdev brutally, which drives Sachdev's wife, Malti (Ila Arun), crazy. When Kashi beats up Katya's men while they were beating up Malti, Katya and his brothers become Kashi's enemies. Shambhu Nath gets throat cancer and only has a few days left to live.

When Kashi doesn't want to join Katya's group, Katya gets angry and shames Shambhu Nath in front of the whole neighborhood. After a string of exciting events, Katya's brother Jeena (Mukesh Rishi) runs over Shiv Nath and kills him. Then, Kashi kills Antya (Deep Dhillon) and is put in jail. Shambhu Nath, on the other hand, dies of cancer. When Kashi and the police went to spread his father's ashes at the Ghat, Katya's brothers and goons attacked the police van. Kashi kills all of them, including Katya's three brothers, and goes to Katya's home. There, he kills Jeena, so only two boys, including Katya, are left alive. Katya turned Kashi's father into a dog, so he turned Kashi into an ox and took him back to the colony to prove his power again. But Kashi stands up, and then the locals attack Katya's whole group. The crowd then kills Bhiku, the sixth brother, played by Tinu Verma. Kashi makes Katya a dog and asks him to bark. Katya has no choice but to bark when Kashi tells her to. Then, Kashi kills Katya, and the colony is freed from Katya's cruel rule.

Even though Tiger (Amitabh Bachchan) doesn't like this government, he gets money from the dock workers for his father Pratap (Deepak Shirke), who works as a goon for Bhaktawar. Tiger is in love with Jumma, the sister of his best friend Gonsalves, who is played by Romesh Sharma. Gonsalves doesn't agree with Bhaktawar's views, so Bhaktawar kills him. When this happens, Tiger's father and wife also die, leaving Tiger with his two young half-brothers, Kumar and Vijay. Tiger goes right after Bhaktawar to kill him, but Inspector Girdhar (Anupam Kher) stops him. Girdhar tells Tiger to take care of his brothers as his dying aunt asked and lets the cops deal with Bhaktawar. Girdhar and his loyal sidekick Havaldar Arjun Singh (Annu Kapoor) steal money from Bhaktawar's safe and set fire to Bhaktawar's house to remove any proof. They also kill Bhaktawar's wife and daughter. Later, the police catch Bhaktawar and put him in jail for killing Tiger's family. Tiger gets away on a train, but Jumma won't go with him because he needs to take care of his brothers first. Jumma and Tiger say they will see each other again in the future. Girdhar destroys the train where Tiger and his brothers are traveling to get rid of any possible witnesses to his crime, but Tiger and his brothers get away.

Jumma is now a successful actress and Girdhar and Havaldar are living in luxury with the money they stole from Bhaktawar.

Giridhar tricks Bhaktawar into thinking that Tiger killed his family after he gets him out of jail. To seek payback, Bhaktawar tracks down Tiger in Ooty. In Bangalore, he takes Aarti and Jyothi and tells them the truth about Shekhar. In the meantime, Kumar finds out who Shekhar really is and blames him for taking his wife and child. But Jumma clears up all the confusion when she tells Vijay and Kumar about their past and the things Shekhar did to help them live a good life. Later, Tiger, Kumar, and Vijay find Aarti and Jyoti and save them. They tell Bhaktawar that Giridhar killed his family. Then, Bhaktawar ties himself and Giridhar to a bomb, which goes off and kills them both. The movie ends with the family back together and happy.

Jai Ho

Jai Ho is an Indian Hindi-language political action-drama movie that came out in 2014. It was directed by Sohail Khan who also produced it under the name Sohail Khan Productions. Sunil Lulla of Eros International, which was in charge of distributing the movie, also worked on it. It stars Salman Khan, Tabu, Daisy Shah, Danny Denzongpa, and Aditya Pancholi. Sunil Shetty and Yogi Babu also make cameos in the movie.

The movie is a remake of the Telugu movie Stalin (2006), which was directed by A. R. Murugadoss and was also based on the American drama movie Pay It Forward. The movie Jai Ho came out on January 24, 2014, during the weekend of Republic Day. Critics had mixed things to say about it. However, the movie made 195.04 crores (US$24 million) at the box office, making it the sixth highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2014.

Jai Agnihotri is a former army officer with a short fuse who is passionate about helping people and fighting criminals. He was a major in the Indian Army, but he was fired after he went against his bosses' orders and saved some kids from terrorists. After this happened, Jai and his mother and sister Geeta moved in together.

One day, Jai couldn't help Suman, a girl with physical disabilities, take an exam because her brother was stuck in traffic. A depressed Suman commits suicide. Jai is very upset about what happened. Suman's death is still fresh in Jai's mind, so he makes a plan to get people to help each other. Every day, people should help three other people. Then, each of these three people would help three more people, and so on. Jai thinks that this network would make people more kind and give them a sense of belonging to a group. But there are problems with his plan.

One day, Jai loses his temper and beats a rich man who hurt a child beggar as one of his daily good deeds. In order to get back at Geeta and her friend Rinky, the rich man hires some men to take them away. Geeta and Rinky are saved by Jai, but in the process, he hurts one of their captors, who happens to be the goon of Patil, a member of the Legislative Assembly and the son-in-law of Dashrath Singh, the Home Minister.

Dashrath doesn't like the fact that Jai hurt one of Patil's goons. He tries to get even with Jai by taking his nephew Kabir. Dashrath, on the other hand, loses Patil because of Jai's anger. Chief Minister Ashok Pradhan learns about Jai's system after a schoolgirl doing her good deeds for the day saves his life. He decides to try to stop the fight between Dashrath and Jai by getting in the middle of their argument. Dashrath doesn't like this help, so he tries to kill Ashok and put the blame on Jai. Ashok is saved, though, by Jai.

Dashrath spreads the story that Jai tried to kill Ashok. Dashrath's son and his hired men attack Jai, who kills Dashrath's son, but not before Kavita, Dashrath's sister and Patil's widow, stabs him and kills him. Kavita also gets stabbed and dies. Jai gets to the hospital with the help of a rickshaw driver and an Army Officer who used to work with him. While Jai is in the hospital, Ashok gets better and says that it wasn't Jai who tried to kill him, but Dashrath. After hearing the truth, a group of angry people beat Dashrath almost to death. Doctors are able to save Jai because he came up with the idea to help three people. When Jai gets out of the hospital, there are a lot of people waiting for him. Jai wants to thank them all for making his idea work.

Naam Shabana

The 2017 Indian Hindi-language action thriller Naam Shabana was directed by Shivam Nair and written by Neeraj Pandey. The movie is a prequel to Baby, which came out in 2015. Taapsee Pannu plays Shabana Khan again in this movie. Also in it are Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpayee, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Anupam Kher.

The movie came out on March 31, 2017, with Telugu and Tamil voiceovers. In Tamil, it was called Naanthan Shabana, and in Telugu, it was called Nene Shabana. The movie was banned in Pakistan the day after it came out. The reviews were mixed, but Kumar's presence helped the movie do well at the box office. The movie tells the story of how Shabana Khan became a good field agent who works with Ajay Singh. At the start, two Indian agents working for Ranvir Singh are looking for a man named Mikhail who sells weapons around the world. But he kills both of them and gets away.

A year later, Shabana, a college student who trains as a Kd fighter, comes to the attention of the agency and starts being watched as a possible recruit. One of her friends, Jai, who loves her, asks her out on a date and tells her how he feels. He asks her about her past, and she says that she was sent to juvenile detention for killing her abusive father, who used to hit her mother. This event is what made the agency notice her. Four drunk men in a jeep tease Shabana while she and Jai are riding their bikes home. Jai is killed in the attack, and the men flee. The main attacker gets away with his crime because he is the son of a powerful person.

Shabana is upset with the police when she gets a call from a number she doesn't know asking if she wants to get revenge for Jai's death. The caller, agent Ranvir Singh, says he will help her find the killer if Shabana joins his secret service. Shabana agrees, and she finds out where the killer is and gets the help she was promised to help her kill them. She goes to Goa, where the killers are hiding out at the moment. She is being watched at a club by another agent, who Ranvir says is the best of them. Ranvir tells her that she is important to them and that they can't do without her. Since this is important to her, they will help her as much as they can. She decides to kill only the main attacker and let the others live in fear for their lives. After she kills the guy in his hotel room, she gets away with the help of Ajay Singh, who was protecting her at the club.

After this, Shabana is asked to join the secret agency for a trial period. There, she gets a lot of training in fitness and fighting. The story then turns to Mikhail, a worldwide arms dealer and supplier. Tony is Mikhail's right-hand man. Three Indian agents try to find him. Tony tells them about a German doctor who has changed Mikhail's face through surgery. When the agency calls the doctor to find out what Mikhail looks like, Tony has already killed all three agents and gotten away, proving that he is Mikhail. Ranvir finds out that Mikhail wants to change his face again with plastic surgery.

This time, Shabana is sent to kill him with the help of Ajay and Omprakash Shukla. Shabana goes into the operating room looking like a patient and is about to kill Mikhail. To her surprise, he is awake because he didn't want to be put to sleep during the surgery. Mikhail almost chokes Shabana during a fight, but she kills him and gets away from the police with the help of Ajay.

Danny Denzongpa said this about S.D. Burman: My dream was to be a playback singer in films, and the song Mera Naam Aao from Yeh Gulistan Hamara (1972) was the first step towards that. S.D. Burman, the master that he was, saw that I could sing well and tried something risky by having me sing my first duet with Lata Mangeshkar. He told me to sing in a funny way while still keeping the melody. The song was a huge success. This was told to Ranjan Das Gupta on January 8, 2012, for 'The Hindu'.
