Azhar Iqubal has an estimated net worth of Rs. 500 crores.
Azhar started a Facebook page called News in Shorts with two friends while they were in college. Their names are Deepit Purkayastha and Anunya Pandey. He said he started posting news on Facebook because many of his friends didn't know what was going on in the world and in their own country. One more reason he gave was that standard news websites and apps put out stories that needed to be shorter and took less time.
When Azhar Iqubal turned 30, he quit IIT Delhi to focus on building a business. The three of them released the free mobile app News In Shorts on September 4, 2013. It gave people news about hot topics in just sixty words, which could be read in less than thirty seconds. The app was made available to people who use Android. As the business grew, he hired a group of professional writers. He also started making money from his app by adding ads to it. During an interview, Azhar said that he never worked in shifts and that he worked more than 12 hours a day. In 2014, Azhar and two friends were able to get good business money in New Delhi during the C round. The app's name was changed to Inshorts in 2015, and it got more than 25 crore in funding. Around the same time, the app came out for iOS users.
At first, 80 to 100 news stories were released every day, but now that number has jumped to over 500. Azhar released the Hindi version of Inshorts in April 2016 so that more people in tier-two towns could use the app. On January 10, 2020, he was made to be the director of Inshorts India Advertising And Services Private Limited. In 2021, Inshorts was able to get $60 million in funding. The company got more than $119 million from 8 investors in 6 rounds until October 2023. The app has been downloaded over 10 million times as of 2023, making it one of the most popular and downloaded apps in India. In October 2023, the value of ITs was Rs. 3,700 crore.
He became the director of Locvid Services Private Limited on November 16, 2019. The company did accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, tax consulting, market research and public opinion polls, and business and management consulting. With Deepit and Anunay, Azhar started a social media app called Public the same year. Indian groups are meant to be able to connect with each other through this app.
The website got an investment of Rs. 300 crores in 2021. The app had more than 100 million downloads in October 2023, making it India's biggest location-based social network site.
He started getting ready for the IIT JEE after school.
2009 was the year Azhar started IIT Delhi.
In an interview, Azhar Iqubal revealed that he was inspired by Sachin Bansal for bringing the startup culture to India.
In 2015, The Times of India published an article on Azhar.
It is said that Azhar's family had a hard time after he chose to stop studying engineering at IIT Delhi.
He was pursuing Btech at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. But he dropped out of IIT Delhi after 2012 and started his own business.
