Asha Parekh is a retired Indian actress film director and producer who has appeared in a number of commercially successful films over the course of her career. She was the highest-paid actress of her generation and one of the most successful in the 1960s and 1970s.
She is regarded as one of the most influential actresses in Hindi cinema history. The Government of India awarded her the Padma Shri in 1992 for her contributions to the field of cinema and she was also given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2020.
