Top 5 Movies of Arvind Swamy

Roja

Roja is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language love action movie written and directed by Mani Ratnam. Arvind Swami and Madhoo are in it, and Madhoo plays the main part. It tells the story of a simple girl from a town in Tamil Nadu who tries hard to find her husband after he is taken by terrorists while on a secret mission in Jammu and Kashmir. The movie was made by K. Balachander's Kavithalayaa Productions, and G. Venkateswaran was in charge of getting it to people. Santhosh Sivan was in charge of the film's shooting. A. R. Rahman wrote the music, which was his first film score, and Suresh Urs was in charge of the cutting. The movie came out on August 15, 1992, with good reviews. It was praised for its national theme and its music, which also got good reviews. It was shown at the 24th IFFI as part of the Indian landscape area.

Roja got three National Film Awards, one of which was for Best Film on National Integration. This made Ratnam famous all over India. The movie was also nominated for Best Film at the 18th Moscow World Film Festival, which brought it world attention. Because of the growing fear of terrorist strikes around the world, the movie was shown again around the world. It is the first movie in Mani Ratnam's Trilogy, which also includes Bombay (1995) and Dil Se.. (1998). All three movies show how people interact with each other against the backdrop of Indian politics. With this movie, A. R. Rahman made his first score for a movie. He got the National Film Award for Best Music Direction, the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Music Director, and the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director.

After Rajiv Menon turned down the lead part in Roja, Arvind Swami was chosen to play it. Aishwarya and Ayesha Jhulka were the first picks for the lead female role, but they turned it down because of scheduling conflicts. The part went to Madhoo, who was given the name Madhubala. Aishwarya later said that she greatly regretted agreeing to do a Telugu movie against her will, which was forced on her by her grandmother. The movie was later scrapped. Ratnam wanted a North Indian actor to play the Kashmiri role of Liaqat, and when he asked Pankaj Kapur, he agreed. Ratnam asked Karisma Kapoor to play a Kashmiri girl, but in the end, he didn't hire her because he thought she was far too expensive for a Tamil film. Another actor got the part instead.

Mani Ratnam wanted to film Roja in Kashmir, but the high level of terrorism there made it impossible. Instead, he had to film it in other hill towns that looked like Kashmir. Some of the places where the movie was shot were Coonoor, Ooty, and Manali, Himachal Pradesh. Santosh Sivan, the film's cinematographer, said that a lot of the pictures were put into the plot. Even in the scenes set in Kashmir, the audience only sees snow for the first time when Roja does. All of these things were in the script. The video for the song Chinna Chinna Aasai was shot at the Hogenakkal Falls in Dharmapuri and the Banatheertham Falls in Papanasam R.F., Tamil Nadu. In the Hindi version of the movie, Arvind Swami's voice was dubbed by Shakti Singh and Madhubala's voice was dubbed by herself. In less than 60 days, the whole movie was made. The film was 3,750 meters (12,300 ft) long when it was done.

Bombay

Bombay is an Indian Tamil-language love drama movie from 1995 that stars Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala. The movie was written and directed by Mani Ratnam. The movie is about a mixed-religion family in Bombay before and during the Bombay riots, which happened between December 1992 and January 1993 after the destruction of the Babri Masjid caused religious tensions between Hindus and Muslims. It is the second movie in Ratnam's trio of films that show connections between people against the backdrop of Indian politics. The other two films in the trilogy are Roja (1992) and Dil Se.. (1998).

Bombay came out on March 10, 1995. Both critics and audiences liked the movie, and it did well at the box office. At many foreign film events, including the Philadelphia Film Festival in 1996, it was shown. A. R. Rahman won his fourth Filmfare Best Music Director Award (Tamil) in a row for the film's music, which is considered one of the best Indian albums of all time. But when the movie came out, it caused a lot of trouble in India and other places because it showed a Muslim woman and a Hindu guy dating each other. When it came out, the movie was banned in Singapore and Malaysia.

A. R. Rahman worked with Mani Ratnam for the third time on the music for Bombay. Vairamuthu wrote the words for the Tamil version, except for Antha Arabi Kadaloram, which was written by Vaali. With 15 million copies sold, the movie's score is one of the best-selling Indian music records of all time. The Guardian's 1000 Albums to Hear Before You Die list included the music, and the song Kannalanae by K. S. Chithra was on their 1000 Songs Everyone Must Hear list. The Hindi version of the movie made 140 million, which is about rupees 710 million or $8.9 million. Which made it one of the ten highest-grossing Hindi films.

Thalaivii

Thalaivii is an Indian historical drama movie coming out in 2021. It is based on the life of J. Jayalalithaa, an actor and politician from India. Kangana Ranaut plays Jayalalithaa in the movie, and Arvind Swamy plays M. G. Ramachandran. And Raj Arjun as R. M. Veerappan. It is directed by A. L. Vijay and written by Madhan Karky and Rajat Arora. It was shot in both Tamil and Hindi at the same time. The movie is made by Vishnu Vardhan Induri of Vibri Motion Pictures and Shailesh R. Singh of Karma Media and Entertainment. In minor parts, the movie also stars Nassar, Bhagyashree, Raj Arjun, Madhoo, Thambi Ramaiah, Shamna Kasim, and Samuthirakani. G. V. Prakash Kumar wrote the music, background score, and soundtrack for both languages.

The film was publicly released on February 24, 2019, which was Jayalalithaa's birthday. At first, the movie was called Thalaivi in Tamil and Jaya in Hindi, but the creators later decided to call it Thalaivi in both languages. The movie cost 100 crore to make, but only made 4.75 crore in its first week. It was a flop at the box office. When the movie came out, reviewers gave it a mixed review. They liked Ranaut and Swamy's acting, but they didn't like the story. On November 10, 2019, the main filming began in Mysore.

At a studio in Chennai, a huge set for a song scene was built, and on February 1, 2020, shooting began with Ranaut in Bharatanatyam clothes. During the song shoot, Ranaut's co-worker from Panga (2020), Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, stopped by the set. The COVID-19 pandemic stopped filming, but most of it had already been done. Ranaut said they wouldn't start again because the final scene needs more than 3000 extras and needs to be made on a big scale. After many delays, the final scene was shot in the middle of November 2020.

The movie was finished in December 2020. G. V. Prakash Kumar wrote the music for the movie, and Madhan Karky and Irshad Kamil wrote the lyrics for the Tamil and Hindi versions, as well as Sira Sri, Bhaskarabhatla, Ramajogayya Sastry, Krishna Chaitanya, and Kalyana Chakravarthy for the Telugu version. Lahari song and T-Series have bought the rights to use the song.

The film was released and most of it was shot in February 2016. Most of the shootings took place in Hyderabad and Kashmir. Hiphop Tamizha wrote the music for the movie. P. S. Vinod was in charge of the photography, and Navin Nooli was in charge of the editing. The movie came out everywhere on December 9, 2016, after being delayed several times. Critics liked the acting (especially from Ram Charan and Arvind Swamy), writing, directing, action scenes, and photography. The movie was supposed to come out on January 16, 2016, but the date was pushed back to February 10, 2016. On February 18, 2016, the film was unveiled at the office of the production company Geetha Arts, and it was said that normal filming would start on February 22, 2016. But the main filming didn't start until Ram Charan wasn't there, and it was reported that he would join the crew on March 1, 2016. As the film's second schedule was set to start on March 10, Ram Charan got a chance and did look tests for the film. He was going to be joining the set on March 14, 2016.

On May 11, 2016, the makers planned to film an important scene and a song in Kashmir. It was also said that Ram Charan might join the shoot. After that, Ram Charan and Rakul Preet went to Kashmir for the second schedule, which ended on June 29. In July 2016, the team went to Hyderabad to shoot important scenes. They planned to shoot the songs in August. A behind-the-scenes movie of Ram Charan doing dangerous moves all by himself, without any body doubles, was made public.

In August 2016, the people who made the movie said that the talking parts were done and that they planned to shoot two songs and finish the post-production work after that. Huge sets were built for the movie's opening song and its special scene. Bodybuilder Rakesh Udyar, who worked with Sultan and Dangal, is said to have trained Ram Charan for the song shot. The shot for the song was done at the end of October. Aravind Swamy then finished his parts for Dhruva. The video for the song Pareshanura was shot on Thailand's Krabi Islands, with Ram Charan and Rakul Preet Singh in it. The song Neethoney Dance was filmed on a huge set at Annapurna Studios. Bosco-Caesar duo was in charge of the choreography. After shooting the song, the main filming was done on November 11, 2016.

Critics praised the acting of Jayam Ravi and Aravind Swamy, especially Aravind Swamy, as well as Thambi Ramaiah, the pace, the script, the storyline, and the direction. It did well at the box office and was one of the most popular Tamil films of the year. The movie was made again in 2016 as Dhruva in Telugu and in 2017 in Bengali. After the success of the movie, director Mohan Raja is planning a follow-up called Thani Oruvan 2.

At first, it was said that Devi Sri Prasad, Yuvan Shankar Raja, and S. Thaman would write the music for the film. S. Thaman later confirmed that he had been in talks with the other two. But Hiphop Tamizha was chosen as the music director for sure in March 2015. Ramji was in charge of the film's shooting, and V. T. Vijayan was in charge of cutting at first, but Gopi Krishna took over after him. The action scenes were choreographed by Stunt Silva and Dhilip Subbarayan, and the songs were choreographed by Brinda.
