The Screen Awards was an annual awards show honoring the best in Bollywood. It was held in India. A group of distinguished business executives chooses the award nominees and winners.
In 1995, The Indian Express Group's Screen film magazine launched the awards. Star India bought the magazine in 2015 and was later shut down. Even though Star India still sponsors the awards under the Star Screen Awards name.
The yearly ceremonies are named after the presenting network; the inaugural Star Screen Awards were shown on Star Plus from 2000 to 2011, after which the Colors Screen Awards were broadcast on Colors and the Life OK Screen Awards on Life OK for two years. Star still has television distribution rights as of 2019.

Additionally, the awards ceremony is the first one held each year.
The Awards for Hindi and Marathi movies, TV shows, and non-film music are given annually in January. The awards have been given in several editions, including the Screen Weekly Awards, Screen Videocon Awards, Star Screen Awards, Colors Screen Awards, and Life OK Screen Awards.
The awards were known as the Screen Videocon Awards until 2001, since Videocon International sponsored them.
