Yahaan is a Hindi movie about a young Muslim woman who meets and falls in love with a Hindu man in the disputed region of Kashmir. According to individuals involved in the Kashmiri war, they commit the biggest sin because of their love and desire for marriage.

The movie presents terrorists aiming to take over the region and the Indian army efforts to track down and kill them are the main causes of the unrest in Kashmir. Aman, the army's commander, first encounters Adaa while fighting militants in Kashmir. Adaa shares a home with her father, grandmother, and adoptive sister who is deaf. 

Shakeel, Adaa's brother, has teamed up with the terrorists to secure a free Kashmir. Aman and Adaa soon start to fall in love as a result of circumstances. Aman keeps his new romance a secret from the troops. He is tasked with locating and eliminating terrorists, and while doing so, he catches the terrorists' leader, who also happens to be Shakeel's tutor.
