The film, which debuted on April 30, 2010, was commercially successful and ultimately became the highest-grossing Telugu movie of the year.
This movie earned Balakrishna his second Nandi Award for Best Actor.
University instructor Srimannarayana (Nandamuri Balakrishna) resides with his grandmother in Hyderabad (K. R. Vijaya). His personality makes him feared and revered by others since he would not stand for injustice anyplace and will beat up those who defy the law. Mahima (Namitha), a female lecturer, is drawn to him, but he doesn't feel the same way. He accidentally hits a comatose man in the head, rousing him from his 28-year coma, while beating up a goon who threatened to throw acid on a female after she rejected his advances. Veerakesavudu is the name of the person (Sai Kumar).
One day, Janaki (Sneha Ullal), a new student, enrols in the college where Srimannarayana is a professor. After an earlier experience with him and observing how everyone in the institution fears him, she initially thinks he is rowdy; yet, after learning about his genuine disposition, she starts to develop feelings for him. She exposes her background one day when Srimannarayana saves her from some thugs. A commercial rivalry exists between her father, entrepreneur Jagadish Prasad (Rahman), and mobster Gopi (Adithya Menon), who also happens to be Veerakesavudu's son. In order to put an end to their rivalry, Veerakesavudu gave Jagadish the command after he emerged from his coma. Out of fear for Veerakesavudu's fury, Jagadish complied.
Nevertheless, Gopi murdered Janaki's brother Anand Prasad (Ravi Prakash) before the wedding as retaliation for an insult, which forced Jagadish to transfer Janaki to Hyderabad to finish her studies. They were Gopi's goons who attempted to abduct her. When Srimannarayana learns of this, he swears to defend Janaki and gives her a place to stay adjacent to his home. He quickly returns her affections for him, which causes Maheswari to stop loving him.
Unfortunately for Janaki, Gopi discovers that she is travelling with Srimannarayana and kidnaps her. However, after a thrilling vehicle pursuit, Srimannarayana is able to save Janaki. When they get home, Gopi's goons come for them.
While trying to assist Srimannarayana while he battles the henchmen, Jagadish unintentionally stabs Srimannarayana's grandmother. Infuriated, Srimannarayana tries to kill him, but his grandma intervenes. Janaki and Jagadish leave right away. Srimannarayana later confronts his grandmother and demands to know why she forbade him from killing Jagadish. She responds by describing their past.
Veerakesavudu and his family operated a brutal self-government in the town of Bobbili thirty years ago, torturing the locals and receiving cooperation from the police. Only a doctor named Narasimha (Nandamuri Balakrishna), the father of Srimannarayana and a member of the Bobbili royal dynasty, dared to resist them.
When he saw Veerakesavudu's thugs torturing others, he took matters into his own hands and killed many of them, including his brothers. He didn't kill people, but he did run a free, round-the-clock hospital. Gayatri (Nayantara), his wife, was the ideal spouse; she always showed Narasimha love and supported all of his strategies. She was cautioned about Narasimha's risky behaviour by Jagadish, Gayatri's brother, who also wanted to launch a business with Veerakesavudu's assistance. However, she disregarded the advice since she had complete faith in her husband and his strategies. Veerakesavudu made the decision to kill Narasimha and his family by attempting to poison them during a temple ceremony with the help of his father, Kota Srinivasa Rao.
In response to the temple priest's warning that Narasimha was in danger, Narasimha hurried to Veerakesavudu's home and murdered both his father and all of his warriors. Veerakesavudu, however, ultimately succeeded in killing Gayatri and Narasimha. Veerakesavudu was struck on the head by Narasimha moments before he passed away, which put him into a coma from which he emerged 28 years later. In order to raise Srimannarayana away from the violence in Bobbili, Narasimha's mother—who also happens to be Srimannarayana's grandmother—took the young and recently orphaned Srimannarayana with her to Hyderabad.
Srimannarayana vows to exact revenge on Veerakesavudu after learning about his family's past and travels to Bobbili to complete his father's purpose. He ends the Veerakesavudu family's reign of terror and horror by himself, eliminating Veerakesavudu, Gopi, and their henchmen, as requested by the Bobbili townpeople.
