N. V. Nirmal Kumar's 2014 action-thriller film Salim is set in India's Tamil-speaking region. Vijay Antony and Aksha Pardasany are its stars. The movie is a continuation of Vijay Antony's debut feature Naan and was produced by Studio 9, Sri Green Productions, and Vijay Antony Film Corporation (2012). The movie premiered on August 29, 2014.
Two years after the incidents and happenings in Naan, the story continues. Vijay Antony's character, Karthik alias Mohammed Salim, is an upright physician who works in a private hospital in Chennai. He frequently goes above and above to assist sick folks who are in need. His personality and talent make his coworkers angry and envious. He discovers his suitor Nisha is chasing him after learning of it one day (Aksha Pardasany). Salim goes straight to Nisha and gives her his private journal so she can get to know him better. Nisha is so taken aback by Salim's reaction that she develops feelings for him.
As their relationship develops, Nisha finds out that Salim has been so focused on his job that he neglects to look after her and spend time with her, which has caused a breach between them. Salim wants to make up with Nisha and wants to spend the full day with her. When they arrive at the movie theatre, some thugs taunt Nisha, but Salim decides to grab her and leave the area. This offends Nisha, who then begins to disregard Salim's calls.
The managing director of the hospital issues Salim a warning to cease declining patient fees since it hurts the hospital's revenue. A few days later, Salim is able to persuade Nisha, and they decide to be back together.
Salim agrees when Nisha invites him to join her at a party. However, as he travels, he notices a young girl who has been the victim of gang rape and is bleeding on the road. He skips the celebration and brings her to the hospital. Nisha loses her cool and ends their relationship.
Salim discovers the following day that the girl he had hospitalised has been released from the hospital. He finds out that the girl was let go by the managing director because she was too impoverished to cover the bill. He receives a party invitation from his hospital the following evening. He discovers there that the managing director has had it with his altruism and kindness at the expense of the hospital.
Salim also finds out that he is being fired, and he is throwing his own farewell celebration. The managing director also calls him out for not leveraging his skills and reputation to make money. Salim leaves the gathering in a wrath. He collides with a policeman (Aruldoss) on the way and hits him, ending up in the police station. But he makes off with the policeman's gun and heads straight for a hotel. He discovers four men attempting to rape the hotel singer there. He assaults them and aids the girl in fleeing the scene. Salim holds them captive within the room and demands that they take responsibility for their actions.
Home Minister Thavapunniyam (R. N. R. Manoharson )'s Guru is one of the men, therefore the police, under the direction of police officer Chezhian (P. V. Chandramouli), are under pressure to act right away.
When the police raid Salim's residence after discovering his identity, they discover his wedding invitations and discover more about Nisha. When she sees Chezhian at the hotel after being taken into jail, she describes Salim's personality and the fact that he is not a terrorist who would kidnap hostages. Salim requests Thavapunniyam's presence at the hotel, foiling the police's attempt to apprehend him using Nisha as bait. While this is going on, Salim dodges a police sniper's bullet and throws one of the guys from a window. He urges Chezhian to take him seriously in order to prevent such terrible outcomes. Later it was discovered that the girl Salim had brought to the hospital had been raped by the four males. They killed the victim and her mother after releasing her from the hospital, then dumped their bodies in sewage.
Salim understands that once Thavapunniyam releases the hostages, he won't leave him alive. He then instructs the police not to follow him and asks a car so that he can go. This time, Thavapunniyam sets up a vehicle with a bomb installed with a remote detonator. Salim keeps Guru as a hostage and enters Guru's vehicle instead.
Later, Thavapunniyam gets a call from Guru informing him that Salim abandoned him and fled down the East Coast Road. Salim has fled and made it appear as though an accident has occurred, so Thavapunniyam commands his men to kill Salim and bring Guru back. The men pursue the car with trucks and collide with it, only to discover that Guru was driving inside and Salim had opted to get out.
