Bharti Rai, the leftist rival leader Bhaskar Sanyal's competitor and the daughter of prominent politician Ramnath Rai, is influenced by him. She has an extramarital child with Bhaskar, and Brij Gopal, Bharti's "rakhi" brother, abandons him on a boat. Later, Bharti marries Chandra Pratap, Bhanu Pratap's younger brother and the head of the Rashtrawadi party.
When the Rashtrawadi party retracts its backing, the minority state regime collapses. Bhanu Pratap has a stroke during his birthday party and transfers authority to his brother Chandra Pratap. Prithvi Pratap, Chandra's eldest son, seeks to abuse his father's influence and begins to push his own policies on the party, which leads to a confrontation with his irate cousin, Veerendra Pratap. Veerendra starts to be benched by Chandra Pratap. Prithvi rejects the candidacy of Sooraj Kumar, a local leader and champion kabaddi player, for the impending midterm elections. However, Veerendra encourages Sooraj to join the party's Central Committee.
Unbeknownst to anybody, Sooraj is Bharti's deserted child who was found and raised by Ram Charittra and his wife, the Pratap family's driver. Brij Gopal deftly names his father Ramcharitra from the same seat when Sooraj demands a candidate in the elections. Samar Pratap, the younger son of Chandra Pratap, meets his longtime friend Indu after he comes back from the United States and falls in love with her. He rejects her proposal after she makes one.
Veerendra, with the aid of Sooraj, arranges for Chandra Pratap's murder in order to reclaim his position as the party's leader and run as the chief ministerial candidate in the state assembly election. A drama ensues, and Prithvi is detained. Veerendra's influence led SP Sharma to accuse Prithvi Pratap of rape. Samar Pratap assures Veerendra that Prithvi will resign from the party in order to save him. But Samar and Prithvi start mobilising the populace. Prithvi, who establishes the new Jana Shakti party with Brij Gopal serving as his mentor and Samar serving as the executive, is formally expelled by the bedridden Bhanu Pratap. Samar cunningly arranges Prithvi's wedding to Indu against her will in order to secure financial support for the new organization from her industrialist father. Sarah, Samar's American lover, arrives in India in the meantime to meet him.
As both sides employ every tactic at their disposal to guarantee success, the conflict becomes murkier. There are accusations and denials of the accusations. After learning from Babulal that Sooraj and Veerendra had killed Bhanu Pratap's father Chandra Pratap, Samar then blackmails and kills the former party associate. Prithvi, on the other hand, murders SP Sharma and a party employee. In the meantime, Prithvi, who has been kind and respectful to Indu, slowly wins her heart. Sarah decides to travel back to the US while pregnant after realising the brothers are killing people for political reasons. Samar is to be killed by a bomb planted by Veerendra and Sooraj in his automobile, but Prithvi and Sarah are killed in the blast. As soon as Sooraj's parentage as Bharti's first kid is made known, Braj Gopal confronts Ramcharitra for his role in Sooraj's crimes.
Samar, who is devastated by the deaths of his brother and girlfriend, decides to take revenge. He recommends that Indu take control of the party and organises the election campaign by himself. Sooraj is urged by Bharti to follow his younger brother Samar. However, Veerendra, who has always stood by Sooraj, is someone he won't leave behind. Exit polls indicate that Indu's party will win. Samar spreads a rumour to entice Veerendra and Sooraj to a factory on the day of counting. Veerendra is shot by Samar and his men after they fall into the trap. Sooraj is given the chance to kill Samar, but he is unable to because he is aware that Samar is his brother. However, Veerendra passes away before they reach the doctor despite Sooraj's pleas for Samar to spare them. Samar is prompted by Gopal to shoot Sooraj, who disputes the propriety of the action. However, Brij Gopal persuades Samar to avenge the death of his family. Samar shoots him without realising he has a relationship with Sooraj.
The election outcomes have been announced. With a majority, the Jan Shakti Party wins, and Indu is elected chief minister. Indu and Samar reconcile their issues. Prithvi's child is due to be born to Indu, and Samar departs India to care for Sarah's mother.
