The Indian television programme Musakaan, created by Rashmi Sharma and distributed by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms Pvt. Ltd., debuted on Star Bharat on May 29, 2018, taking the place of Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki. Sharad Malhotra and Yesha Rughani portrayed the leads, alongside Karam Rajpal, Richa Soni, Tanu Khan, Tarun Kurana, and Arina Dey in other important roles .

The protagonist of the novel is the bar dancer Aarti, along with her daughter Muskaan, who is subject to social exclusion due to her mother's line of work and longs to remain with her. Aarti lives in Kolkata, while Muskaan studies in Darjeeling.

After 14 years, Muskaan matures into a shy woman with a strong character who is committed to her studies. When she runs into Raunak Singh, they fall in love and struggle through many challenges. Raunak and Muskaan get married despite attempts to separate them by several characters, such as his father Teerath.

To give Teerath the harshest penalty possible, Muskaan learns to become a police officer. However, he is shortly kidnapped in another town. Later, Khushi and Roshni, twin daughters of Muskaan and Raunak, are born. But as Muskaan's automobile plunges into a precipice, Raunak is cut off from her.

Musakaan returns to find Raunak six years later while living in hiding from the authorities in Bangladesh after being wrongfully accused of a murder. As she runs from the cops, she accidentally runs into Roshni, who is also unaware of it. On the other hand, Raunak looks after Khushi and weds Nisha, while raunak's cousin also weds a woman. In the end, Khushi and Roshni join Musakaan and Raunak in their happily ever after marriage.
