Ajay Devgn, Archana Puran Singh, and Rakhi Sawant play supporting parts alongside Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani in the 2004 Indian comedy-thriller Masti directed by Indra Kumar and produced by Ashok Thakeria. Other female leads include Lara Dutta, Amrita Rao, Tara Sharma, and Genelia D'Souza. It is the first instalment of the Masti franchise. 

Meet, Prem and Amar are the three bachelors at the centre of Masti. They lead carefree lives up until they get married and become resentful, dissatisfied husbands. Anchal, who marries Meet, is obnoxiously possessive with her spouse. Prem marries Geeta, who is excessively devout, which negatively affects their romantic health. Bindiya, who Amar marries and who is violent, lives with him and her mother. Frustrated, the guys get together one day and decide to bring excitement and joy back into their lives. Though they initially focus on other ladies, they eventually come to the realisation that they've all been seeing Monica. She threatens to reveal the relationships to the spouses of the three men unless they pay her Rs. 10 lakhs in blackmail.

The horrified men collected the cash when they discover Monica deceased in her vehicle at the drop-off spot. Police officer Sikander, who is sceptical of them, interrupts them as they scramble to bury her body and evade blame. The group hides under Monica's veranda after realising Sikander had trailed them when they head to her home for more research. The following morning, they are discovered by an enigmatic man who explains that he murdered Monica and demanded a ransom to hide the crime.

Since they believe the truth will eventually come out, the guilty men apologise to their respective wives. The men are chased by the murderer the very following day, which leads to a shootout in which they mistakenly kill the enigmatic man. They are then taken into custody and put in jail. The men emotionally confess the truth as their wives enter the jail. After some time passes, the women admit that they staged the entire incident; Monica is still alive, and Sikander—who is actually Bindiya's cousin—is the real murderer. The wives wished to remind their husbands to be grateful and to learn a lesson. The guys then say sorry to their spouses and vow never to engage in "masti" once more.

Masti was a critical and commercial hit, earning close to INR 35 crores at the box office and was declared a hit. It is also one of the first Bollywood adult comedy movies in India. Its immense success helped it become a franchise, with a sequel coming out in 2013 and the third instalment in the year 2016.
